The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives might be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Summary, after two weeks, metabolism drops so significantly, that if you don't reduce calories, you will gain weight!

Day 3: Bees where bees are not supposed to be.
We've had our fair share of swarms this year! We like to catch swarms when they are near our apiaries but we often can't take time out of our day to drive throughout the community to catch swarms. Sometimes when you get there, they've already taken off! Swarming is a honey bee colony's natural means of reproduction. In the process of swarming, a single colony splits into two or more distinct colonies. In the Spring we try to split all of the large hives to prevent swarming.
