Caregiver Support Group | Last Tuesday of Every Month

Caring for someone living with dementia can feel heavy, but you don’t have to carry it alone. 💙
Our Caregiver Support Group meets the last Tuesday of each month, creating space for education, encouragement, and connection.

We’ll be hosting the GEMS® Workshop, which reminds us that people living with dementia are not defined by loss. When care is done with them, not to them, and when the environment and approach are just right, they can still shine.

Whether you’re a spouse, child, or friend, this group is here to support you on the journey.

We recently said farewell to one of our nurse managers-Sabrina, BSN, RN, MDS. While we are saddened to see her go, we are truly excited for her as she begins a new chapter. Family and her residents have always been closest to Sabrina’s heart, and we know this decision was not an easy one. We are grateful for the compassion and dedication she shared with our residents and team, and we wish her nothing but happiness and success as she spreads her wings and embraces her next adventure.

Do you know this handsome fella? This photo was left at the facility several years ago and has been on display ever since. He is currently living on the Activity Director's desk as her honorary Grandpa, but she would love to get him back to his real family!

Caring for a loved one with dementia takes patience, empathy, and a different way of communicating.

• Connect before you correct – Focus on emotions over facts. Feeling safe matters more than being right.
• Approach from the front – Make eye contact, stay at their level, and move slowly to avoid startling them.
• Use fewer words – Short phrases, gestures, and visual cues are easier to understand.
• Match their reality – Meet them where they are instead of arguing or correcting.

Small changes in how we respond can create a big difference in dignity, comfort, and trust.
