It’s time to roll and run!

I love mornings when I can just roll outta bed and onto the yoga mat and that’s exactly what was planned for today.
With so many different types of yoga out there, and so many different offerings available online, you’re sure to be able to find one that makes you happy.
I definitely have my favorites but I always give other instructors a try. - then I realize even more how much I love it!

After you’re settled, centered and focused, decide how you’re gonna launch into cardio-space 🚀 Heres another opportunity this week to push yourself beyond the usual!

Twenty minutes is all it takes when you allow your strength and stamina to shine through and don’t let that self-doubt talk you out of an amazing cardio HIIT.
YOU choose your weapon; treadmill, bike, stair master, elliptical - whatever.
Even if you don’t have equipment, YOU can apply the 20-minute theory to ANY ACTIVITY!

Set your mind, set your goal and set your clock and let’s keep it going!

PLYO & Legs

Start with your preferred 10 min dynamic warm -up

Plyometric jumps help you build muscle and improve your cardiovascular health, as well as increase your strength, speed, endurance, and agility. While they are powerful and dynamic, PLEASE TAKE CAUTION if these are new to you. Listen to your body and start where YOU are in your fitness journey.

PLYO - 3 sets/ 10 reps
1. Line jumps - imagine a line on the floor or place an object to create one and lateral hop or jump over it; left to right
2. 180 jumps - jump to face front, jump to face back
3. Tuck jumps - like a cannonball in the air
4. Depth jumps - step up onto an object no higher than knee height. Jump off making sure to land on flat feet, butt back and down, knees back so they DO NOT track over your feet.
5. Dynamic step ups - you can start by just tapping your feet, one by one, on the same object you used for your depth jumps.
Eventually you want to really draw in that power and lift off the floor as well. So you should feel like you’re blasting off as you’re tapping up!

LEGS
1. SQUATS - 5 sets/10 reps
2. Good Mornings/ Calf Raises - Superset
3 sets/10 reps/ 20 reps
3. Reverse hyperextension/ seated leg extension
3 sets/ 15 reps/ 10 reps
Reverse hypers:
You can lay on your belly over a declined or flat surface. Your hips should be supported but legs allowed to hang unsupported. Use the strength in your butt to lift your legs up, pausing at the top, and lowering slowly

Today’s workout is dedicated to two of my most influential fitness masters; Travis and Bill.
I start with Travis because first on the list is YOGA. I have a 30 minute “Strong and Graceful” power yoga routine to get me mentally prepared, not only for what’s on deck, but also for the entire day.
Doing YOGA with Travis over the past year has been a gift. Something I wake up and look forward to doing most mornings. Never a need to jump outta bed and change into different clothes. I just roll outta bed and onto the mat. It’s perfect.
Then there’s Bill. Probably the reason “In It for LIFE” exists in my mind. I read “Body for LIFE” the year it was published; 1999. To say it molded my foundation to fitness is an understatement. I live by his teachings.
A HIIT workout is a critical part of a well-rounded fitness lifestyle and his 20-minute HIIT cardio routine is THE ONE!
*You can never outgrow it.
*You can apply it to any piece of cardio equipment.
*You can burn mega calories.
*You can be done in 20 minutes!

Enough talking. It’s time for action!

CHEST & SHOULDERS

Supersets
HEAVY as you can
8 reps
3 sets each

1. Chest Press/Seated Military Press
2. Incline Fly/Front Raise (prone on incline bench)
3. Incline Chest Press/Standing Lateral Raise
FINISHER: Decline Push-ups - as many as you can!

Don’t be fooled by the simplistic appearance of this workout. If done with the appropriate weight, you will feel the burn throughout.
It should feel like you can barely get in five reps, and then push yourself for the extra three…..PUSH YOURSELF FOR THE EXTRA JOY 👍🏼

As with all your workouts, be sure to warm up; whether on a treadmill, bike or whatever active movement to get your blood pumping.

As it is in LIFE, when you get off on the right foot, it's natural that things will go the right way.

At In It for LIFE, we LOVE to start the weekend right with our signature Saturday Sweat Session.

This is our first time together in a VERY LONG TIME and we are anxious to spend time in a way that feels "normal" to us.
This means working out to our OWN personal intensity and doing so while socially distancing ourselves from each other.
We have the privilege of being outdoors and the benefit of fresh air and sunshine.
