If there’s one thing I want every woman to hear, it’s this: being proactive and preventative during perimenopause is far more powerful than being reactive later—but it’s never too late to start.
If you’re in your 30s or 40s, now is the time to get educated. Hormonal shifts don’t suddenly start at menopause—they begin years earlier, quietly influencing muscle mass, bone density, joint health, energy, and recovery. When we wait until symptoms are loud and disruptive, we’re often playing catch-up.
If you’re already in perimenopause or past menopause, please know this: you didn’t miss your window. Your body is incredibly adaptable, and meaningful improvements can happen at any stage with the right strategy.
One common complaint I hear is joint pain and achiness. While hormones play a role, a big contributor is the loss of muscle mass and muscle integrity that naturally occurs as estrogen declines. When muscles aren’t doing their job, the body relies more on connective tissues and joints—and that’s when discomfort shows up. The solution isn’t to avoid movement; it’s to build stronger, more intentional muscle contractions so muscles can support your joints the way they’re designed to.
So yes—when you hear me say “BUTT… BUTT… BUTT!” or “squeeze the quarter!”—I mean it. Those cues help activate and strengthen key muscle groups, improve stability, and ultimately reduce joint and connective tissue stress.
Nutrition matters just as much. Adequate protein intake is essential for maintaining and rebuilding muscle as we age. For some women, that means being more intentional with meals; for others, protein or collagen supplements can be a helpful tool to support muscle, connective tissue, and recovery.
The big picture: education, strength training, and targeted nutrition are not optional extras during this phase of life—they’re foundational. Whether you’re preparing for what’s ahead or navigating it right now, small, consistent actions can dramatically change how you feel in your body.
You deserve to feel strong, capable, and confident at every stage—and I’m here to help you do exactly that.
