Program offering FREE naloxone/Narcan

Overdose deaths are down in Pennsylvania ... but there actions we can take to reduce that number further.

According to Nextdistro, "This decrease was largely a result of increased access to naloxone for people who witness an overdose."

For residents who are not drug users or know anyone who is, keeping naloxone with you to help someone you come upon who is overdosing can be an option.

PennDOT Announcement: Beginning at 3 PM Sunday (Feb 22), PennDOT will activate Tier 1 travel restrictions on many major highways across Pennsylvania due to the incoming winter storm. Under these restrictions, tractors without trailers, tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded trailers, unloaded or lightly loaded box trucks, passenger vehicles towing trailers, RVs and motorhomes, school buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, and motorcycles are prohibited from traveling on affected roadways. These restrictions apply to major routes statewide, including I-76, I-78, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84, I-95, I-476, I-676, Route 33, U.S. 22, and sections of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Motorists are urged to use caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor conditions as the storm develops.

This hands‑on program teaches you the real skills neighbors rely on during disasters—just like the dedicated volunteers pictured here gearing up for nighttime operations.

Sunday's training started with K9, and Drone section training. During that time, the team Lieutenant was in charge of Command setup. This was immediately followed up by a mock search for an over due hiker. Once located it was learned she broke her ankle and needed to be packaged, (hypothermia wrap), and secured in a stokes basket for extraction.

NOTICE: Portions of Rocky Ridge County Park will be closed to the public beginning Monday, February 23, 2026, as outlined in red on the attached map. The Wildlife and Oak Timber parking lots will be closed, along with the Teal, Yellow, and Orange trails, as well as the new paved trail on the south side of the entrance road. This closure is expected to last several weeks due to timber removal in the affected area. The Hidden Laurel Parking Lot and all other trails will remain open. Please follow all posted signage and closures as we continue to manage the park’s forest ecosystem.
