Here’s something many people don’t realize: 90% of new type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnoses happen in people with no family history.

That means anyone—yes, anyone—can be at risk. Even adults! In fact, over 50% of all new cases occur in adults over the age of 18. There's a reason we've retired the name "juvenile diabetes."

It’s why understanding and screening for T1D are so important.

In one of our newest Think Like a Pancreas Podcast episodes, we dive into what that risk really means, how screening works, and why it’s one of the best tools we have for early action.

Tandem x Libre 3+ Integration Is Here

Tandem has officially launched the t:slim X2 insulin pump integration with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor—bringing another CGM option to the t:slim family.

What to know:
• t:slim X2 users can now view Libre 3 Plus glucose data directly on their pump.
• To use it, install the latest pump software update and the Tandem Mobile App.
• Each new sensor must be started through the app—not the Abbott reader or app.

This marks another step toward flexible, connected diabetes care.

Tandem Diabetes Care (Nasdaq:TNDM) announced today that it launched its t:slim X2 insulin pump with the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus.

Here are the directions for Jenny's Almond Flour Pumpkin Muffins:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C). Line 10 muffin cups with parchment liners (I use this muffin tin).

2. In a large bowl, stir together the coconut flour, almond flour, sweetener, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, and sea salt. Make sure there are no clumps.

3. Stir in the eggs, pumpkin puree, almond milk, melted ghee, and vanilla until completely incorporated.

4. Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin cups and smooth the tops. (They should be almost full, not 2/3 or 3/4 full.) If desired, sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top and press gently.

5. Bake for about 25 minutes, until an inserted toothpick comes out clean and the muffins are very slightly golden around the edges.

Enjoy! 🍁🍂

T1D Diagnosis: The Musical 🎭

Bet you didn’t see this one coming! (Or if you know me… maybe you did.)

Hi, it’s Gary—founder of Integrated Diabetes Services. Today I’m looking back 40 years to when my own story with type 1 diabetes began.

I was home from college in Sugarland, TX, eating, drinking, losing weight… and running to the bathroom constantly. When a character on MASH showed the same symptoms, I finally stopped to listen to what my body was telling me—and soon after, I was diagnosed.

Four decades later, here I am helping others navigate this pain-in-the-neck disease. And truthfully? I’ve enjoyed (almost) every second of it.
