Yesterday at RockQuest, our Brave Kids climbed higher than walls.

They climbed through nerves.
They climbed through uncertainty.
They climbed with friends cheering them on, parents watching proudly, and a room full of people reminding them they were never doing it alone. That is the heart of Brave Friends.

Because friends make us braver.

A huge thank you to our Brave Builder Volunteers and to Be Well for helping make this adventure possible, and to the amazing team at RockQuest, especially Craig, for creating a day full of courage, confidence, laughter, and joy.

Lily is one of our Brave Friends 💕

Her favorite color is pink (just like Glinda from Wicked 💖), and her favorite food is McDonald’s french fries 🍟 (if you want to win Lily over, that’s a great place to start 😉)

She has the kind of strength you can feel the moment you meet her, and a smile that stays with you long after.

Lily is always the first to step up, volunteering with Brave Like Me, giving back, and sharing our mission with others.

She reminds us that brave doesn’t always look like the big moments.
Sometimes it’s a smile, a moment, or simply showing up 💙

We are so lucky to know her.

Today is World Book Day 📚

A day to celebrate the power of stories, imagination, and the impact a single book can have on a child’s life.

At Brave Like Me, books are more than just stories. They are comfort during long hospital days, a sense of normalcy in unfamiliar places, and a reminder to every child that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

That’s why sharing meaningful stories is such an important part of what we do.

Our Co-Founder, John Otten, has written two special books that reflect that mission:

• Finnegan the Football — a story about finding where you belong and embracing what makes you different
• I Love You More Than the Moon and All the Stars — a heartfelt reminder of love, connection, and the people who stand beside you through everything

Through Brayden’s Books, we’ve placed thousands of books into the hands of children across the country, helping them feel brave, seen, and supported.

This World Book Day, read with a child, share a story, or help us continue getting books into the hands of kids who need them most 💙

SHOP LOCAL 💙

There’s something really special about shopping local, and we’re so excited to highlight one of Cincinnati’s most loved gems—King Arthur’s Court in Oakley.

For more than 35 years, they’ve been creating joy, sparking imagination, and bringing families together in the most magical way. From their whimsical castle feel to free popcorn and coffee, birthday club fun, and complimentary gift wrapping, every visit feels special.

And now, they are selling Finnegan the Football right in store.

When you purchase a book, you’re supporting a beloved local toy store and helping Brave Like Me continue bringing books and joy to Brave Kids.

Final call for an afternoon of climbing, connection, and fun 💙

Join us this weekend at Rock Quest for our Brave Friends Rock Climbing Event.

We’ll have pizza, drinks, and so much encouragement as our Brave Friends take on the wall and we cheer them on every step of the way.

Our volunteers are already so excited and can’t wait to meet everyone who’s signed up. It’s going to be such a special day filled with energy, support, and connection.

Last week, our building hosted an evening bringing together so many incredible people, from entrepreneurs and nonprofits to a vibrant community of artists.

In between meeting new faces and opening our doors, we looked out our window and saw this.

A golden Cincinnati sunset that made the whole city glow.

Grateful for spaces that bring people together and moments that remind us how special this community really is 💙

We’ve already sent a Brave surprise her way filled with a Finnegan the Football book, a Finnegan plushie, and Brave Bands for the whole family 💙

The sweetest part, her 2.5-year-old son Owen is already loving the book, and that is what it’s all about 🥹

Our Brave Friends Rock Climbing Adventure is almost here 💙

This special event is all about giving our Brave Friends the chance to try something new, build confidence, and share a fun afternoon with the people they love. Friends and family are encouraged to join us as we climb, connect, and make meaningful memories together.

We are proud to offer adaptive rock climbing, with specialized equipment for those who need it and trained staff on site to support every climber.
