Catherine’s Health Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary medical, dental, behavioral health, and health support services. Headquartered in northeast Grand Rapids, Catherine’s Health Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center. We provide access to high quality, affordable, and compassionate health care for the underserved throughout West Michigan. Alphonsus church in the Creston neighborhood. While not directly affiliated with one religious group and no longer a volunteer-run clinic in a basement, we continue to work from the heart of our mission to provide exceptional health care for those who are most vulnerable in our community. Today, Catherine’s provides 6,500 comprehensive primary medical, behavioral health, dental, and health promotion/disease prevention services annually. Our namesake, Catherine McAuley, lived in the late 1700s and established the Sisters of Mercy. She dedicated her life to serving the poor, and we are inspired by her example of selflessness and solidarity. We serve the community through the generosity of those who share our belief that no one should have to choose between life's necessities and basic medical care.

What a wonderful time we had at our Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving event for past and current Catherine's staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners! We presented awards, blew out birthday candles, assembled hygiene kits, told stories spanning 30 years of impact, and shared excitement about what is to come. Our hearts are full!

Today is the day! 30 years ago on Valentine's Day, Catherine's opened its doors for the first time as a neighborhood clinic in the basement of a church. While we are so grateful for the growth we have seen over the past thirty years, one thing has not changed: our commitment to providing high quality, affordable, and compassionate health care to all.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is helping make an innovative partnership possible by funding a new Hospital Health Navigator Program that places a Catherine's Health Center community health worker inside Trinity Health MIEmergency Department — meeting patients where they are and guiding individuals with complex needs toward low-barrier primary care.

By connecting people to consistent, preventive care, this program aims to reduce unnecessary ER visits, improve health outcomes and create a model for more coordinated care in West Michigan.
