THOMPSON, TRINA RENE
DOVER-Trina Rene Thompson of Dover, Delaware, was born on April 20, 1971, to William and Rosa L. Wright in Harrington, DE. She departed this life on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Milford Hospice Center, in Milford, DE surrounded by love and peace.

Trina grew up in Harrington, Delaware and graduated from Lake Forest High school in 1989. Trina went on to receive a Bachelor of Education from Wilmington University in 2000. She dedicated 20 years to teaching in the private, charter and public school system, where her passion for education shone brightly. Trina taught at Telemon Head Start, Caesar Rodney School District, Christian Tabernacle Academy, the Academy of Dover Charter School and Frederick Douglass Elementary School in Seaford, DE. Trina truly loved teaching, it was more than a profession; it was her calling. Rarely a day passed without her speaking about her students with deep care and concern. She found great joy in collaborating with her colleagues, whether they were crafting lesson plans together, sharing laughter during a staff gathering or participating in school events. The camaraderie and mutual support among her fellow educators meant the world to her, and she cherished those bonds deeply.

It was on April 1, 1991, that Trina married her best friend and husband, Malcolm Thompson. Together, they embraced life to the fullest. Trina had a deep love for travel, and it wasn’t long before friends and family would see joyful photos of the two—relaxing at the beach, sailing on a cruise, or simply enjoying a quiet getaway. They also traveled often with friends and family. Their adventures were a testament to the love and laughter they shared.

Trina was also a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her children deeply and unconditionally. She nurtured them with unwavering faith, constant encouragement, and a heart full of love. Whether it was adventurous outings, family vacations, or quiet moments at home, Trina cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their lives—always attending school events, parent-teacher conferences, and cheering them on from the sidelines. Her support was steadfast, and her pride in their accomplishments was evident to all who knew her.

Trina attended Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Dover, under the leadership of Rev. Eric and Vanessa Brown where she served faithfully in both the church and the community for over 20 years. Her heart was especially drawn to children’s ministry, where she taught Children Church and mentored many young lives with wisdom and compassion. But Trina’s service didn’t stop there—she had a gift for planning and hosting community events, always adding her signature touch to every decoration. Her creativity and joy were unmistakable, and you couldn’t help but notice the twinkle in her eyes and the radiant smile on her face whenever she volunteered to coordinate programs or church events (Vacation Bible School, Back to School events, Hallelujah Community Events, holiday programs and youth trips. The Christmas season held a special place in her heart. She delighted in decorating her home to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and welcomed family with open arms. Her home would overflow with joy, laughter, and the warmth of togetherness—hallmarks of the love she so freely gave. Her presence brought warmth, beauty, and a spirit of celebration to every gathering.

Throughout Trina’s medical challenges, she continued to express her gratitude through laughter and radiant smiles. She often reflected on the joy of having lived a life filled with cherished experiences, a devoted family, loyal friends, and compassionate caregivers. Her spirit remained luminous. Trina truly embodied the essence of a life well lived and always had hope.

Trina was preceded in death by her mother Rosa Lee Wright; and brother Warren Wrght.

Trina was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 34 years Malcolm Thompson; her son Jeremy Thompson, and daughter Alexis Thompson; loving father, Willam Wright; brothers, Earnell Scott, Norman Wright, Emmitt Wright, Chris Wright, and James Wright; sisters Nathalie Pitts, and Norma Jean (Glen)Jenkins; her cherished four grandchildren, Ja’mier Thompson, Keng Willoughby, Ahmad Wilson, and Ya’Zara Thompson: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends who will miss her dearly.

Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. Trina’s legacy of kindness, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on November 8, 2025, at Victory Christian Fellowship, 18 Greenhill Ave., Dover, DE 19901. Burial will follow in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE.

PINKSTON, NATHANIEL, JR.
DOVER-On Friday, October 17, 2025 God dispatched His angel to bring His beloved son, Nathaniel Pinkston Jr., home to his eternal rest.

Nathaniel, affectionately known as “Nat”, was born on May 3, 1948 in Macon, Georgia to the late Katie Mae and Nathaniel Pinkston Sr. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and later moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1966. There he began a new chapter in life filled with love, family, and purpose.

In 1967, Nat met the love of his life, Harriet, whom he affectionately called "Cupid." On August 10, 1968, they were united in marriage, a beautiful union that was blessed with two children, Nathaniel III and Yolanda.

Nat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He worked hard and retired from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) after many years of dedicated service.

In his free time, Nat enjoyed fishing and golfing, passions he often shared with his children and grandchildren. He loved his daughter's cooking and could be found cheering for football teams with a Black quarterback. Nat had a fondness for playing numbers and spending time with his 7-Eleven buddies. He also had a running hobby buying old cars, paying mechanics to fix them, driving them for several months then selling them at a loss, and then starting the cycle all over again. He proudly declared he definitely was not paying a car note! In retirement, Nat loved nothing more than sitting on his porch, being delightfully nosy, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Nat’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife Harriet; his children Nathaniel III (Merle) of Brooklyn, NY and Yolanda (Shawn) of Magnolia, DE; brothers Emmett of Dover, DE and Arthur of Brooklyn, NY; sisters: Jeanette of Macon, GA, Betty Jean of Brooklyn, NY, and Mamie of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Asia, Shawn Jr., Joshua, Christopher, and Dyondre’; and great-grandchildren: Savant, Laith, Nylah, and Jax. He is also cherished by his aunt Thelma, sister-in-law Linda, close friends Larry and Mike, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—all of whom he especially loved and cared for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Katie Mae and Nathaniel Sr.; his sisters Precious and Lillian; and his brother Michael.

Nat will be remembered for his humor, warmth, and the love he shared so freely with everyone around him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Jim attended William Henry High School and went on to further his education at Delaware State College (now Delaware State University), where he majored in mathematics. Following graduation, he began his professional journey as a student teacher at William Henry High School in Dover, Delaware and later taught at Absalom Jones in Wilmington.

In 1958, Jim married the love of his life, Ellen Mosley, who also preceded him in death. From this beautiful union, four loving children were born.

Jim was the ultimate husband, father, and family man. Together with Ellen, he created a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. The family traveled across the United States, Canada, and Mexico in their RV, and after becoming empty nesters, Jim and Ellen continued exploring the world – flying, cruising, and RVing to destinations as well as traveling across Europe and beyond.

A man of many talents and interests, Jim loved playing the guitar, a passion he developed during college and continued as a member of the gospel group The Christian Echos. He also enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and visiting casinos. A proud member of the Harrington Lions Club, Jim gave back to his community through volunteer service.

MEYERS, DIANNE PRESSON
MIDDLETOWN-Dianne Presson Meyers, 86, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away on October 10, 2025, at Westminster Assisted Living facility in Dover, Delaware, due to complications from lung cancer.

Dianne was born on the morning of December 24, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Margaret Louise Presson (Simmons) and the late Edwin Talmadge Presson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Meyers, as well as her beloved poodle, Sir Sterling Silver Meyers.

Dianne is survived by two daughters, Laurie Meyers, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jennifer Meyers Coffey of Wilmington, Delaware. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Mark Coffey, two grandchildren, Ethan Coffey and Samantha Coffey of Wilmington, Delaware, and her “grand dog,” Cara Mia Meyers, of Alexandria, Virginia.

Dianne earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, and her master’s degree at the University of Delaware. She came to Delaware in 1966 to teach Latin at Dover Air Force Base High School, where she met her husband, Thomas. She would go on to teach Latin and English at Caesar Rodney High School before turning a lifelong passion for reading into a career as a high school librarian. Dianne’s tenure as a librarian included positions at Sussex Central High School, William Penn High School and Wilmington High School.

Dianne was extremely creative and artistic. She dabbled in oil and watercolors, but her true passion was decorative painting. Dianne’s media included wood, ceramic, glass, and the lavishly decorated cakes she created for family birthdays. The walls of Dianne’s house were filled with stencils and murals, and she and Tom—an avid woodworker—created one-of-a-kind decorative furniture. Dianne and Tom were also enthusiastic DIYers who renovated a series of houses for seasonal rental in Cape May, N.J. The houses were filled with Dianne’s creative touch.

Dianne was devoted to her daughters, ferrying them to countless ballet and piano lessons, nurturing their love of reading, providing expert editing for their term papers and creating many a handmade childhood Halloween costume. She spent eight years as a chaperone for the award-winning Caesar Rodney Senior High School Marching Band, cheering on Jennifer, a trumpet soloist, and Laurie, a mediocre clarinet player. Dianne was also a proud grandmother who attended numerous recitals, plays and marching band shows.

When Tom asked Dianne to marry him, she had one stipulation: he had to be willing to embark on an eventual trip to Europe. Dianne had always dreamed of going. She didn’t know how or when, but she was determined to get there. A year after their marriage, Dianne and Tom made it to Europe for a months-long adventure in a Volkswagen camper van and a mutual devotion to travel was born. They traveled with their daughters to numerous destinations in the United States and took them on several European trips. In retirement, Dianne and Tom continued to travel both abroad and domestically. They took numerous cruises, one of which was on the Hurtigruten (Norwegian mailboat), which took them across the Arctic Circle. They also took several trips to Hawaii and traveled in their motorhome—with their beloved traveling companion, Sterling—to all 48 continental U.S. states.

Dianne was a favorite among the staff at her assisted living facility. A kind and endlessly curious person, she wanted to know who they were as people. She asked after their families, checked on their welfare and complimented a pair of cute shoes or holiday-themed scrubs. This was a lifelong pattern for Dianne—a shy person who nonetheless attracted others with her sly sense of humor and genuine interest in others.

Dianne’s other interests included the beach, Broadway musicals, reading, health research, true crime, ridiculous areas of the internet such as the “people of Walmart” Pinterest board and strawberries—both as a motif and a fruit. Her daughters will tell you that her favorite child was actually their brother-dog, Sterling.

A Memorial Service and Interment of her ashes will be held on Saturday, November 1, at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green, 50 Market Street, (Old) New Castle, Delaware, followed by a reception in the Academy.
