Honest Conversations: Respecting Myself, Respecting Others
We’re excited to share that we’re using the Elevatus Training program to support young people with disabilities in learning about healthy relationships, boundaries, safety, and self-advocacy.

The program begins with a parent and caregiver component, giving families the tools and confidence to have open, supportive conversations with their young person. From there, youth will participate in interactive sessions that cover topics like understanding bodies, consent, communication, friendships, and navigating relationships with confidence.

Good morning. We are excited to announce the hiring of Dr. Whitney Trompeter. Dr. Trompeter grew up in the Pittsburgh area before attending college and medical school at Drexel University. After completing her pediatric residency in Connecticut, Dr. Trompeter moved to Arizona where she practiced general pediatrics for 7 years. She is excited to move back to her home state of Pennsylvania (you can ask her why!) with her husband, two young sons, and two dogs. When she has free time, which as you might imagine is not often, she enjoys reading, Zumba, and word games. Dr. Trompeter will be caring for children in our Wyomissing and Exeter offices. Please join us in welcoming her to our Reading Pediatrics Family!

P.S. GO BIRDS!!

ABA Explained: Where it Started, Where it Struggled, and Where it is Today

Date: Thurs. March 19, 2026 from 12-1 PM

This presentation offers a balanced, accessible overview of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) designed for both caregivers and professionals. We will explore the historical roots of ABA, how early practices shaped the field, and the controversies and criticisms that continue to influence important conversations today.

Participants will gain an understanding of how ABA has evolved over time, including shifts toward trauma-informed, consent-based, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches. The presentation will highlight what ethical, modern ABA looks like in practice, how it differs from outdated models, and what safeguards are in place to center dignity, autonomy, and quality of life.

Caregivers will leave with tools to ask informed questions, advocate effectively, and recognize supportive versus harmful practices. Professionals will be encouraged to reflect on ethical responsibility, ongoing learning, and collaboration with families and neurodivergent individuals.
