Mount Rogers Community Services’ Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) successfully hosted a week-long CIT training in Galax, Virginia, from November 10–14, 2025.

Officers and professionals from the Galax Police Department, Virginia State Police, Smyth County Sheriff’s Office, Wytheville Police Department, Twin County Hospital Security, and several Special Conservators of the Peace participated in this comprehensive program.

Throughout the training, attendees engaged in scenario-based learning, interactive instruction, and cross-agency collaboration to strengthen their skills in de-escalation, mental health awareness, and compassionate crisis response.

This collaborative effort enhances public safety and supports individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, helping build a safer, more connected community across our region.

Stress Awareness Matters — and Support is Here

Stress affects all of us, and noticing the early signs can make a meaningful difference in our well-being. At Mount Rogers Community Services, we use the 5 Bridges Wellness Framework to help people strengthen resilience every day:

✨ BOND – Stay connected to people who support you
✨ FUEL – Nourish your body and mind
✨ MOVE – Use movement to release tension
✨ REST – Prioritize sleep and recovery
✨ GIVE – Engage in acts of purpose and kindness

These everyday practices help us manage stress before it becomes overwhelming.

Need more structured support?

Wythe/Bland Healthcare Excellence Day

Last week, we had the privilege of serving students from Wythe and Bland Counties as they explored future careers in healthcare.

A huge shout out to Christine, Jenn, Amy, Kala, Allie, Sherry, Brittney, Marlena, and Grace for creating such a welcoming, hands-on, and meaningful experience. Your efforts truly made an impact, as shown in the students’ feedback:

✨ “The experience was interactive and honest. I’d love to intern here someday.”
✨ “I liked how hands-on everything was, especially the dementia activity.”
✨ “I learned new coping skills and enjoyed sharing experiences.”
✨ “Stacking rocks and the brain building activity were my favorites.”
✨ “I enjoyed learning about ABA therapy.”

Thank you for inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals!
