Pro-Motion Physical Therapy

Pro-Motion Physical Therapy The basis for all treatment provided at Pro-Motion revolves around the central theme of function. What is function? That is where we step in.

"Function is the normal and specific contribution of bodily parts to the economic movement of the organism." At Pro Motion Physical Therapy we see the body as a complex system. We believe that each of the systems and regions of the body are interrelated creating chain reactions. Regions are linked by connective tissue, muscles, joints, and nerve tracts. There can be dysfunction in certain links that alter the health of the system causing pain, compensations, and degeneration of function. Our approach is to identify and treat the links or causes of the symptom and to provide YOU with the tools for success toward accomplishing your goals. Let us assist you in removing the factors that hinder optimal function and pro-moting the healing response that is within you. Our team of therapists can assist you in moving from a state of health minus to health plus so that you are "Better than better!"

In many of the Health Plus minutes I have talked about the concept of Health Related Quality of Life.
It is a term used to describe well being. A state of well being in which the social, psychological and physical aspects of self…of your life… are integrated.
The term “stress”, was coined by Hans Selye in 1936, who defined it as “the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change”.
What we know from research is that a certain amount of stress is beneficial. Think of exercise. If I stress my body, I create a tissue reaction, which promotes a strengthening of the tissue.
Stress is often considered a bad thing. Man is she stressed out! What a stress case! Is stress BAD for you?
A 2012 study at from the University of Wisconsin on 30,000 adults asked the question, “How much stress do you have in your life?” Each participant was asked to rate how stressful his or her life was.
First, the bad news: Findings: Excessive stress can increase your chance of dying by up to 40%. Over the 8 years of the study the number of deaths in the US related to stress would have ranked in the top 15.
Here is where it gets interesting. When the study asked… “Do you think stress is bad for you?” the answer affected the outcome. If you had stress but did not believe, it was bad you had the healthiest outcomes.
How you view stress changes its physical effects.
I read a book this year called the “Biology of Belief.” In summary, the author shared that our thoughts directly influence how are brains control the body’s physiology.
This piece of research supports his statement. Is stress killing you? The way you look at it affects the way it affects you.

Health Plus Minute – The Magic Is Not in the Medicine: Welcome to the Health Plus Minute. When it comes to musculoskeletal disorders—back pain, neck pain, shoulder problems—we’re talking about the number one cause of disability globally and the number one cost in healthcare, totaling over $600 billion a year. Yet the messaging you often hear suggests the answer is imaging, injections, surgery, or medication. But here’s the truth: the magic is not in the medicine—the magic is in your body’s ability to adapt and heal. Most musculoskeletal disorders are movement-related: “It hurts when I bend,” “I can’t lift,” “I want to be able to run.” Those statements tell us movement is both part of the irritation—and part of the solution. Just like medicine must be dosed correctly, movement must be dosed correctly: the right type, the right amount, at the right time. And with proper education, you learn how to move in ways that rebuild strength without aggravating symptoms. If pain is limiting the things you want, need, and love to do, contact Pro-Motion Physical Therapy—because healing isn’t bought, it’s built. Be Moved. Believe. Give us a call 509-573-4816.

Are you dealing with any pain in your feet, wrists, lower back, hips, or other areas with major tendons?
There is a non-invasive treatment method that can help people with tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, or other issues reduce their pain, move better, and get back to functioning better.
