MMC's Nursing Programs develops a professional nurse who provides holistic nursing care based on nursing theory and research who appreciates the uniqueness of each individual and family, the influence of society, and the multidimensional aspects of health. Graduates are prepared to provide professional nursing care as a generalist in a variety of settings and to diverse groups, are prepared for advanced professional preparation and graduate study, and prepared to make contributions to the profession of nursing. Mount Marty Nursing provides a values-centered nursing education which enhances personal growth and development, fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and supports responsible collaboration within communities.

This week, MSN Nurse Practitioner students participated in their seminar immersion experience, where they learned clinical skills, engaged in educational sessions led by local medical providers, and served more than 230 meals at The Banquet. A special thank you to Dr. Burgess and Dr. Duerksen for organizing this meaningful experience and providing this hands-on training. Wishing everyone a happy early Nurse Practitioner Week, also!

Sister Kathy Burt '93 will receive the 2025 Distinguished Service to Mount Marty Award! 🎉

Sister Kathy earned her bachelors from Mount Marty and has spent over 30 years serving in both clinical nursing and education. After earning her masters and doctorate, she returned to the university to teach in the BSN program and served as a Clinical Nurse Educator in long-term care. Her personal mission is to seek God in everyone and everything, every day, by reaching out to others with compassion and a listening ear.
