Great job by TTPD & Berwyn Fire Company!
On Saturday, March 18th at approximately 12:51pm, TTPD Officers responded to a report of a medical emergency involving possible cardiac arrest in the Wayne section of Tredyffrin Township.
Ofc. Chris Middleton was first on scene, and found the Victim unconscious, not breathing and with a faint pulse while being tended to by his Wife. Neighbors of the Victim acted quickly, beginning chest compressions and rescue breathing as Ofc. Middleton prepared a portable automated external defibrillator (AED), which our Officers carry in our patrol vehicles, for deployment.
Within a few moments, Ofc. Richard Gasparo and Sgt. Tyler Moyer arrived and took over delivering compressions. After delivering a shock from the AED, all continued performing CPR with the continued assistance of the Victim's Neighbors until EMS personnel from Berwyn Fire Company arrived on location and took over care.
Within minutes, Medics were able to stabilize the Victim's vital signs, and later transport him to the hospital for treatment. We’ve subsequently received information that the Victim survived, and continues to receive care at the hospital.
Great teamwork by these Officers, EMS personnel - and especially the Victim’s Neighbors - to save a life! We've said it before, and we'll say it again - in Tredyffrin Township, we look out for each other around here!
