I’m often asked about CranioSacral Therapy. It’s as easy to explain the experience as it is to describe giving birth; you have to experience it for yourself.
I recently saw a post on a massage therapist Facebook group page. It asked what our experience with cranial sacral therapy was. It was a reminder to me how different we can be as therapists; how we can interpret our training differently, which can have a lot to do with our backgrounds as healing facilitators. Following was my response to what I found to be a lot of comments made by people who were either misled or just blatantly ignorant of the workings of CST.
You really have to experience a treatment to be able to comprehend how powerful it is to one’s body, mind and spirit. The reason being is that it has nothing to do with me, the facilitator, I’m just following directions and doing what your body asks of me as it prioritizes it needs.

The body shows us the restrictions and the body makes the adjustments, be they deep or superficial, fascial or musculoskeletal. There is no manipulation in CST. You are not ever over riding the body’s guidance and direction. The therapist’s ego has no place in this modality.
You must learn to listen and commune with the client’s body. That requires us to be clear and nonjudgmental. I couldn’t begin to recant the mind blowing experiences I have witnessed through the body wisdom being fully invited and involved. Powerful indeed. ✨
