Menopause is a condition that affects most women as they age. While it is most commonly associated with aging, a small number of women can experience symptoms as early as a decade before menopause occurs. Symptoms do not always end with the last menstrual period either. One in ten women will experience symptoms for up to 12 years.
Examples of menopause symptoms are:
• Headaches
• Bleeding Gums
• Sore/Tender Breasts
• Bladder Issues / Urinary Urgency
• Painful or Stiff Joints
• Reduced Muscle and Bone Mass

• Racing Heart
• Dry Skin, Eyes, Mouth
• Vaginal Dryness
• Reduced Libido
• Insomnia
• Weight Gain or Slowed Metabolism
• Concentrating / Memory Problems
• Depression / Emotional Changes
• Anxiety
The most common treatments prescribed to assist with these symptoms include: hormone replacement therapy (HRT), counselling, dietary changes or exercise regimens. Additionally, low dose antidepressants are often given to combat the depression / emotional changes. These antidepressants sometimes have side effects that can be even worse than the menopause symptoms – these include: headache, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, diarrhea, constipation, reduced libido.
At A Healthy Solution we feel it is imperative to spread the word about alternative treatments to help women manage or reduce their menopause symptoms. Our recommended alternatives are CBD, minerals, collagen and menopause relief patches.

Kombucha and YOU!
Our health is always a big deal, and maintaining it is even more important. Maintaining our health can help improve our everyday activities and make us feel great. Which is why it is important to put the right nutrients into your body. But we also want those healthy things to be tasty, right? It can be hard to find that proper balance between the two, but it can be found! Like with the beverage kombucha. This beverage is enjoyed by many and can also give you a lot of health benefits. In this article, we will be discussing what kombucha is and how it is able to benefit you and your health.
What is Kombucha?

By definition: “Kombucha is a fermented, lightly effervescent, sweetened black tea drink commonly consumed for its purported health benefits. Sometimes the beverage is called kombucha tea to distinguish it from the culture of bacteria and yeast. Juice, spices, fruit or other flavorings are often added.” Kombucha is believed to originate in China or Japan. It’s created by combining specific strains of bacteria, yeast and sugar to black or green tea, then letting it to ferment for a week or more. Throughout this process, bacteria and yeast create a mushroom-like film on the surface of the liquid. Therefore, kombucha is also known as “mushroom tea.” This mass is a living symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, or a SCOBY, and can be used to ferment new kombucha. The fermentation procedure makes acetic acid (also found in vinegar) and numerous other acidic compounds, hints of alcohol and gases that make it carbonated. The name comes from the Japanese term konbu-cha/kobu-cha, which means “kelp tea.” This refers to the drink originally being made with powdered konbu (an edible type of kelp) and is different from the modern fermented tea we have in our modern time.

How can Kombucha Benefit you?
There are a few ways this everyday beverage can help you stay healthier! Let’s go into the overall benefits of this drink and what makes it so special. There are some types of kombucha out there that contain the types of green tea containing epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which can help improve your metabolism. Kombucha made from green tea may support many of the same health benefits as green tea itself, such as weight loss and blood sugar control. This can be a game changer if you’re looking into losing weight, though it isn’t a “magic weight loss product”, it can still promote a healthier. And if you need help with keeping your blood sugar in at a manageable level. On top of that, according to recent research, kombucha is also capable of assisting with gut troubles due to its ability to balance good bacteria in the stomach. This is very beneficial to help relieve gastrointestinal issues you may be experiencing as well due to said balance in good bacteria. Speaking of bacteria, this product being high in tea polyphenols and acetic acid, both being shown to suppress the growth of undesirable bacteria and yeast in the body. Kombucha has been shown to be rich in antioxidants, there have been studies done to shown that it protects rats’ liver from toxicity. Kombucha is also able to help with reducing inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation can be linked to most, if not all, health conditions. Including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, respiratory illness, and more. While it doesn’t work like medicine, it can aid you in a promoting a healthier lifestyle that can reduce overall inflammation in your body. Due to these benefits, kombucha is also able to help boost your immune system! Most, if not all, kombucha drinks contain many different bacteria, yeast, and other nutrients that help your body.

Conclusion
These are just the basics of what this drink can do for your body. There are many people that use Kombucha to help treat their chronic conditions/health problems, while it has been proven to be very useful in helping you maintain a healthier lifestyle, there still needs to be more research done to prove how much it helps with said conditions. Regardless of the limits, it could still be worth trying to help you with your day-to-day health care.

By now, you may be familiar with CBD, and potentially CBG as well. Both compounds hold many medicinal properties to them, two big ones being lowering inflammation and lowering anxiety/stress symptoms. Though when paired together, they are able to do even more! In this blog, we will be discussing these two compounds and how they work well together. Both have unique properties that can help you with your care. At AHS, we are able to answer any additional questions you may have.
What are they?
CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are cannabinoids, naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. You may already know that both CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the two most popular cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. For now, let’s continue seeing CBG in more detail, since that one is less known. Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of more than 100 cannabinoids discovered in h**p and cannabis plants. Young h**p plants create cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). As the plant develops, CBGA breaks down into cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). These two compounds are then converted into CBD and THC. Any leftover CBGA is converted into CBG. It is still a fairly new compound in the world of cannabinoid research. From what has been shown in these studies, this compound has antibacterial, antidepressant, and anticancer properties. Meaning it can help with physical and mental wellness. CBG is also able to provide many of the medicinal properties as THC/ tetrahydrocannabinol, but without the psychoactive effect! CBG works by binding to both receptors (CB1 and CB2 receptors) of the endocannabinoid system, which influence inflammation, pain, and even heat sensitivity. Studies have also shown CBG's ability to fight nausea, increase appetite, regulate sleep, and even combat cancer-causing cells! CBG works really well as a pain reliever! This is because it reduces the pain and inflammation signals being sent to your brain. It’s able to do this by reducing the intensity of hormone-like lipids which are in charge of the inflammatory response and pain.

Why use them together?
Well, even though the compounds are similar, when paired together they can do a lot for your health. When CBD and CBG are paired together, they act synergistically to create a stronger effect compared to when they’re used alone. So they bring each other a lot more balance when they work together. It generates something called the entourage effect; this usually occurs when consuming a full spectrum h**p product. You can indicate which product has this combo when you see it has a “1:1” ratio. This means for every 1mg of CBD, you get 1mg of CBG as well. When put together, CBD and CBG can help with the following: Increase in focus, lowering anxiety and stress, boosting your mood, relieving general discomfort (physically and mentally), supporting appetite, helping with sleep, aiding stomach aches, helping with general pain/inflammation, and more! CBG helps with pain by being a GABA reuptake inhibitor. CBG’s ability to behave as a GABA reuptake inhibitor means that it can assist to maintain the levels of GABA in the brain and spinal cord. This is comparable to how selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) perform in their ability to maintain serotonin in the brain. Because CBG can help to inhibit the reuptake of GABA, a neurotransmitter that has been linked to pain reduction, it is possible for patients to use this cannabinoid in their pursuit of reduced pain.

There are many ways to ingest CBD, each way has their own benefits. Such as gummies and tincture. These two are the most popular ways to consume CBD due to how easily accessible these options are. Each one has a unique use, and today we will be discussing what each one would be used for, and which one would be best for you!
Please know that at AHS, all of the staff tests the products before they are put on to our shelves to make ensure it works as intended and is safe to consume. Employees are able to give recommendations based on their own experience or the experience of other clients who have also taken the products.
Gummies
Gummies are a tasty way to get your daily dose of CBD! But what are the exact benefits of taking it in this form? Well, let’s use our SoCal Yummy Gummies as an example. They are used for anxiety, stress, depression, mood balance, sleep, etc. With gummies, they have a set dosing, such as 25mg per gummy and 750mg for a whole container, this allows you to have a very exact knowledge of your dosing. Gummies can be taken any time of day when you’re feeling an onset of symptoms. For example, if you had anxiety and you felt the heart palpitations and overwhelming stress, you would be able to take a gummy and feel relief in about 30-45 minutes. Depending on the level of your symptoms/condition, this would determine the gummy that would be recommended and the dosing. You feel the relief of this product for about 4-6 hours, but this can depend on the person.
Tincture
CBD oil, also known as tincture, is another good method to ingest CBD. Tincture can help with many conditions and overall care. This would be taken as follows: you would fill the dropper to your recommended dosing (the droppers we carry have markers that show how much you are taking, a full dropper being 1ML), put said amount under your tongue for 30 seconds, and swallow. The flavors are more limited, though what we have is a minty flavor that is easy on the tastebuds. What makes the oil so special is that it is much stronger than the gummies and stay in your body much longer due to going through your bloodstream (via under the tongue.) We carry bottles that contain 750mg, 1500mg, 2000mg, and 3000mg. The dosing can look like this: 50mg in the morning and 25mg at night, we do morning and night because the oil stays in your body for about 12 hours at a time. So, with taking it both times of the day, you get a full 24-hour coverage. But with this comes higher risk. If clients are taking medications, such as blood pressure or heart medication, we recommend spacing them two hours a part, so they don’t interact. This is an issue because the CBD can raise the dosing of these medications in your body, which can be dangerous. But don’t fret! We have professionals on staff along with a nurse who are able to help dose you safely if you want to give it a try.
Depending on your condition, there is always a product for you! At AHS, we provide free consultations if you have any questions about your condition or if you want recommendations. We provide products for sleep, anxiety, stress, topical pains, internal pain, and more!

07/08/2022

In the world of CBD and its many counterparts, the word “homeostasis” is thrown around a lot. What
exactly does it mean to be in a state of homeostasis? How is CBD able to help you reach that point? In
this article, we will go over the exact definition of this word and how CBD as a compound is linked to it.
Homeostasis, what is it?
It means “the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements,
especially as maintained by physiological processes.” Or in a simpler definition “A state of balance
among all the body systems needed for the body to survive and function correctly.” This means your
entire being, body and mind, are where they need to be to properly function on a day-to-day basis, and
in this state, you are more likely to be in an overall better state of health as well.
How is CBD and the other cannabinoids linked to this?
The human body has something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is in
charge for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood,
appetite, memory, etc. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if
they don’t use any form of cannabis? All humans and animals are born with this system and start our
lives in a state of homeostasis, but over time our brains can be thrown out of this state. This is where a
lot of physical and mental conflicts come into play. Your body is able to create its own cannabinoids,
similar to those found in cannabis, which is part of how CBD can help put our brains back into this
homeostasis. The endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor, the effects that result depend on
where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to. While not all CBD products can
fully accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use,
some better for pain, others better for sleep, and products even used for stress/anxiety. The one that is
most helpful for homeostasis would be CBD oil/tincture, this is due to it going through your bloodstream
and distributing cannabinoids throughout the whole body.
How is the endocannabinoid system linked to my health?
This system works though two systems in your body called the CB1 and CB2 systems. The CB1 receptors
are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune
and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed
quite as densely as CB1 receptors. CB1 receptors are responsible for motor activity, memory,
coordination, pain receptors, appetite, short term memory, and immunity. While the CB2 receptors are
responsible for the gut, kidneys, pancreas, skeletal muscle, bone, eyes, reproductive system, immune
system, respiratory tract, skin, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and liver.
Conclusion
CBD is usually a good go-to when improving your overall health, being able to improve so many parts of
the body. It can be used for topical pains and inflammation, all the way to mood balance and
depression. At AHS, we have trained staff who are able to help you find a product for your exact needs.
We have a nurse on staff and owner who are able to provide personal consolations to help you find you

Most people have their own ways of maintaining their health or keeping their appearance. Especially as we get older, we must alter how we do these things due to our bodies continuing to change over time. For many people, we don’t like how wrinkles look on our faces and want to preserve our youth, and sometimes we have horrid headaches that never seem to end. But what do those two things have in common? Well, the connection is Botox! But how do they really correlate to each other?” you may be asking. In this blog, we will discuss how Botox can help with more than just cosmetics. What it is, its misconceptions, and what it can do for you.
What is Botox?
Botox is a compound used in medical procedures, usually used for cosmetic reasons, but is also used for health reasons. Botox is “a drug prepared from the bacterial toxin botulin, used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles.”
What are some misconceptions?
There are a handful of misconceptions for Botox, some having more ground than others. Here are a few of them:
“Botox is toxic, and we don’t know the long-term effects” Botox is a neurotoxin developed from Clostridium botulinum; an organism found in its natural environment where it’s largely inactive. It has been used since the 1980’s so we do know a lot about it.
“Botox will give me a frozen or expressionless look” Usually that happens when you use too much or if your doctor puts too much in a specific area. An experienced injector would know how many units to inject to get the desired effect but also look natural.
“Botox can erase any and all wrinkles” This isn’t completely true. There are 2 types of wrinkles: dynamic & static. Dynamic wrinkles are present with facial movements, static wrinkles are there at rest. While Botox can help improve both kinds of wrinkles, static wrinkles may need additional treatments, such as fillers or laser.
“If you stop doing Botox, your wrinkles will come back and be worse” In the scenario you stop using Botox, the wrinkles will gradually return with repeat movements, but Botox will not worsen them.
“Botox injections are painful!” If done correctly, the procedure should be mostly painless.
“Botox can be addicting” There are no additives in Botox that should be considered addictive. Most people do it to feel more youthful and feel good about their appearance.
“Botox is permanent” It lasts about 3-4 months at a time.
“Botox will affect my whole body” The Botox will only affect the muscle it was injected into and can’t spread further than that.

What is Botox used for that isn’t cosmetics?
While Botox is most used for cosmetic reasons, it can be used for medical reasons as well. There are a few conditions it has proven to help treat, such as chronic migraines. Migraines can be absolutely debilitating when they happen, and can last four or more hours, causing nausea and pain when exposed to noise and bright lights. So, the way Botox helps with this is when it is injected into muscles in the head and neck every 12 weeks, it
They're also used to treat conditions such as cervical dystonia, with this dreadful condition, your neck muscles contract involuntarily causing your head to twist or turn into an unpleasant position. Hyperhidrosis, a condition where you have excessive sweating, so even when the temperature isn't too hot and you're not exerting yourself. Lazy eye, generally the cause of lazy eye is an imbalance in the muscles in charge of aligning the eye. Eye twitching, Botox injections may assist in relieving contracture or twitching of muscles around the eye. Muscle contractures, some neurological disorders, such as cerebral palsy, can affect your limbs and cause them to pull in toward your center. In many cases, these contracted muscles can be relaxed with Botox. And finally, we have bladder dysfunction. Botox injections is also able to reduce urinary incontinency caused by an overactive bladder.
Side Effects?
Like anything in the medical field, there’s always room for side effects. Botox injections are relatively safe, if you have a licensed professional doing your procedure. While the possibility of side effects is very low, here are some that can happen in the case of side effects. Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site, headache or flu-like symptoms, droopy eyelid or cockeyed eyebrows, crooked smile or drooling, eye dryness or excessive tearing.
Final Thoughts:
Depending on what medical or cosmetic needs you have, always consult your doctor about any and all options and the safety of you procedure.

03/05/2022

There are many different variations of cannabinoids out in the world that do a variety of effects. Such as CBG for pain and CBN for sleep. But what if there were more cannabinoids that can help benefit people and their health? There is CBDA and CBGA, these being more recent in the field of medicine and is still early in research. CBDA and CBGA are a newer subject of study on how cannabinoids interact with COVID-19. Researchers found that two cannabinoid acids commonly found in h**p, cannabigerolic acoid, or CBGa, and cannabidiolic acid, also known as CBDa, can bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. By binding to the spike protein, the compounds can prevent the virus from entering cells and causing infection, potentially offering a new gateway to treating diseases.
So, let’s discuss what these compounds are. Starting with plain ol’ CBD. CBD, or cannabidiol, is found in the same plant as THC but is actually non-psychoactive, meaning CBD will not get you high while providing its therapeutic benefits. Because of this, it has become extremely popular in the medical field. CBD is often extracted from CBD-rich strains of cannabis, like h**p. It is typically seen in oils, tinctures, supplements, extracts, food and beverage products, gummies, and seemingly everything. CBD products that have high THC content come from ma*****na plants, while the majority of CBD products you see on the market (and the only ones technically allowed by the FDA) are those that have a THC content of 0.3% or less. So, what about CBDA and CBGA? Where does it fit into the crowded cannabinoid market?
Let’s discuss CBGA first. Cannabigerolic acid (also known as CBGA) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that is the precursor for THC, CBD, and several other familiar cannabinoids. CBG is cannabigerol, the non-acidic form of cannabigerolic acid. CBGA is converted into CBG when heat is applied (similar to the conversion process of THCA to THC). Enzymes known as synthases are responsible for moving the CBGA cannabinoid into molecules such as THCA, the raw, unactivated molecule that translates to THC when heat is applied. CBG interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system and demonstrates substantial therapeutic potential. While research into the cannabinoid is still early, CBG shows potential as an anti-inflammatory, mood regulator, cancer fighter, and appetite stimulant. It also has potent antibacterial properties. Cannabigerol is frequently called the mother cannabinoid because no other cannabinoid will exist without some level of CBG. For more than 50 years, scientists have been mindful of the compound cannabigerol (CBG), it was first uncovered by Israeli scientists. About 30 years later, Japanese scientists then discovered that CBGA was the precursor to CBG. The growth of CBGA occurs when two organic compounds in the plant: geranyl pyrophosphate and olivetolic acid combine. This is an vital building block in the formation of other cannabinoids like CBDA, THCA, CBCA, and CBG. Olivetolic being a compound used to make man-made forms of THC. It’s used in chemistry quite frequently, in this regard.
Now let’s move on to CBDA. CBDA is a non-psychoactive compound that serves as a precursor to CBD. More specifically, CBDA is decarboxylated to create CBD, meaning it is heated. This can happen immediately if smoked or vaped, or slowly if the plant material is left to dry in the sun or even at room temperature. All cannabinoids in cannabis and h**p come from cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), the mother of all cannabinoids. Plant enzymes then translate the CBGa into a combination of the three major cannabinoid predecessor compounds: tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabichromenic acid (CBCA), and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA). The combination will vary on the distinctive cannabis strain they are derived from. Cannabidiolic acid can, hence, be thought of as raw CBD. CBDA is most frequently found in the live or raw h**p plants bred for high CBD levels. Cannabidiolic acid is regularly consumed as CBD, but it can also be valuable in its raw form. CBDA oil can be consumed or absorbed via tinctures, raw cannabis juice, topical creams, and raw CBDA oil. To date, CBDA has drawn much less public attention and is seen less on the market. However, the raw juicing cannabis craze is getting CBDA into the spotlight. People are speculating about the differences between CBD and CBDA and if CBDA is better than CBD.
They are both non-psychoactive, demonstrating that users won’t get high or stoned. This is because CBD and CBDA both do not fully interact with our endocannabinoid receptors. CBD and CBDA are thought to cause their well-known effects by activating our 5-HT1A serotonin receptors. You’ve likely heard of serotonin, as it is a crucial neurotransmitter in our brains that is closely related in regulating our mood, sleep, anxiety, and even nausea. CBD is noted to help with things like anxiety, depression, inflammation, and even a rare form of childhood epilepsy. You see CBD in such a wide selection of health supplements because of its usefulness and because it has been examined much more than CBDA. Meanwhile, CBDA is in the very early stages of research but shows just as much, if not more, promise than CBD. For example, one study found that CBDA produces antidepressant effects on rats at doses 10 to 100 times lower than CBD. This is due to CBDA’s relationship with serotonin receptors. For this same reason, CBDA is further researched as an anti-nausea drug, with one study finding CBDA more effective at reducing nausea than CBD. Well, until we have tangible evidence from human testing, it’s too early to say! However, early research implies that raw CBD oil can be just as, if not more, effective at treating things like depression, nausea, and inflammation. It may also have unique properties that CBD does not, making it an option for various treatments. CBDA shows promise as an anticonvulsant and may even have antibacterial, antioxidant, and cancer-preventing potential (particularly breast cancer). So, while there is enough early indication to suggest that CBDA has its own distinctive qualities that could set it apart from CBD in certain areas.
As you can see, CBDA and CBGA does indeed have its own unique potential in the expanding cannabinoid industry. While research into much of CBDA’s and CBGA’s potential is still in the early stages, enough evidence gives scientists and eager supplement users great assurance. For those of you who are just going into the CBD/health supplement, CBDA and CBGA may indeed offer another good option to add to your health and wellness routine. Though always consult a doctor or a specialist before starting any new treatments. AHS has specialist and a nurse on staff who are available to answer any questions you may have.
