Hope Adventures

Hope Adventures Hope Adventures is a farm based mental health practice. Everyday is a new day on the farm and can be unpredictable. It promotes grounding and stability.

Hope Adventures uses a variety of farm animals and nature to provide strengths based, client centered services. Hope Adventures is an outpatient therapy practice that combines traditional therapeutic techniques with farm life and animals. Therapy sessions incorporate that mindset as each session is different and catered specifically to every client and their goals. At Hope Adventures, you get the opportunity to heal, grow and transform while interacting with animals and farm environment. Clients are given the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone and get the chance to enjoy a small taste of farm life. Hope Adventures uses animal assisted therapy, nature therapy and farm based therapy in the therapeutic process. Services offered include:
**Animal Assisted Therapy: Hope Adventures incorporates farm animals into the therapy process. These animals include a dog, bunny, horses and goats. Pictures if the animals can be found under the animal tab at the top of the page. Studies have shown that animals provide a positive influence on improving one's emotional, social and cognitive well being. The skills they learn during session can be transferred to their everyday life and mindset.

**Nature Therapy: Part of Hope Adventures is also allowing clients to connect with nature during sessions. It allows clients to tap back into their 5 senses and learn to enjoy the world around them. Nature therapy has shown to decrease stress levels and increase relaxation skills. Nature therapy allows clients to step outside the typical therapy office setting and enjoy the world around them. While direct interaction with the farm animals is not planned, sometimes they get curious and join us during sessions.

**Farm Based Therapy: Every day is a new and exciting day on the farm. You never know what to expect and things are consistently changing. Animals are fine one day, and then sick the next day. One day two animals get along, the next day they are butting heads and being aggressive with each other. While some days are easier than others, clients learn valuable lessons during sessions that they can apply to everyday life situations. They learn to understand that every animal has a different personality as well as certain likes and dislikes. Just like humans, they have boundaries and personal space that they do not always want others in. Interested in finding out more? The past week or so, the weather has been tough. So, how are the animals handling things?

All the animals are doing great, but chores just take longer. The horses and goats get offered more hay and are able to drink out of heated water tubs. The horses still come into their stalls at night, but have the open barn area to come in out of the wind during the day. The goats do not like to venture far in the snow and prefer to hang out in their barn.

The baby goats are thriving and becoming very spoiled quickly. They like to cuddle up with each other for warmth.

Terri checks on the animals multiple times a day to ensure they are doing well, have adequate hay and water and are not cold. Buddy was shivering over the weekend, so he gets a blanket on for a few days.

But, clients do not have to worry about the cold. With the new heated office, clients can get in from the cold. Teens and adults can sit in the office while kids can enjoy time in the art room. Parents also no longer have to sit in their cars during sessions, but can enjoy the warm waiting area.

Therapy appointments are available! Please visit www.hopeadventures.com for additional information.

The 2025/2026 kidding season has wrapped up! It was a crazy two weeks but moms and babies are all doing great and looking forward to cuddling with clients.

Final baby count:
16 total (including 1 set of triplets!)
7 girls
9 boys

Kids, teens and adults all enjoy hanging with the babies during therapy sessions. Sometimes the babies curl up on clients laps and enjoy being petted while clients talk about their stressors and struggles. Other times, the babies provide some comic relief as they rump and run around as clients interact with them.

Even as the winter weather hangs around, the barn is still a warm spot to hang during sessions.

Currently have daytime and afternoon appointments available.

Happy New Year!

The time has finally come for this years babies to be born! So far, we have 2 girls and 3 boys but more are still expected.

Baby goat cuddles and snuggles are in full swing now. If you would like to cuddle the babies, please dress warmly as sessions will be taking place in the barn.

Even though it is winter, clients are still able to work with the horses or enjoy the warm, cozy new office space.

⭐️Daytime appointments are available as well as some select after school appointments (depending on the day and time).

Please feel free to visit www.hopeadventures.com for additional information on therapy services offered.

🌟Exciting news! After 3 years of working out of a car trailer, the new office renovations are complete!

Thank you to my clients who had to adjust to a different parking situation and extra noise these past few months as renovations were taking place.

But, as of today, the new office space is open for business!

Of course, the animals enjoy hanging with clients and baby goats are soon coming, which means plenty of goat snuggles. But, there is now a waiting room for parents, a bigger art area for kids, temperature controlled rooms and a bathroom.

Daytime appointments are still available for kids, teens and adults. Clocks are changing, colder months are here and the Holidays are right around the corner, all of which can create additional stressors. Sometimes we just need a little help to get through the Holiday

Did you know that animal therapy is very beneficial for adults?

With school starting, that means that holidays are right around the corner. Sometimes the holidays can bring up added stress, anxiety or even grief.

Clients can cuddle with Penny or Trixie or work with the horses. Or they can sit outside and enjoy the calming sounds of nature.

Hope Adventures currently has daytime appointments available for either in person or Zoom.

Come see the benefits of working with animals or just enjoying nature while working through some stressors or concerns.

We’ve added two new additions to the animal herd.

Please meet Penny and Champ!

🔹Penny is a 3 year old Labradoodle that we rescued. She prefers to lay on the couch and cuddle. But, she also likes to play with Trixie and run around the farm.

🔹Champ is a 10 year old Quarter Horse/Arabian cross. He joined the horse herd a few weeks ago and fits right in. He likes to hang with Rudy. He also enjoys spending time with kids and being brushed.

Both are now available to be used during therapy sessions!

🔴Summer appointments are still available for kids, teens and adults.

Please check out www.hopeadventures.com for additional information.

A little behind the scenes look at what goes on after hours on the farm.

Aside from the daily feeding and horse stall cleaning, we grow and make our own hay to feed the horses and goats year round.

From start to finish, it can take anywhere from 3 to 5 days to get the hay made and in the barn. Because of that, sometimes client sessions have to be rescheduled so the hay can get done.

This past holiday weekend, we were able to get all the first cutting of hay this season in the barn.

This past Saturday, our community was hit with a very devastating and unforgettable tragedy at UPMC Memorial Hospital. In seconds, lives were changed forever. While nothing is going to be able to take away the pain and shock of the events that unfolded, support is available. Comfort and guidancee is available to help process the events, assist in overcoming fears and uncertainties while learning how to move forward. Mental health matters and it is okay to reach out and ask for help.

Hope Adventures is here to help support the community regarding mental health therapy. While Hope Adventures offers traditional psychotherapy in an office setting, we also offer a unique and non traditional atmosphere with the use of animals during therapy sessions. One can also relax outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of the farm and nature.

Animals have been show to help with decreasing feelings of anxiety, depression and stress. They offer a safe and secure space to explore and process one’s emotions and feelings. They also help with clarity, understanding and self awareness. Additionally, animals are nonjudgmental and provide instant feedback.

Hope Adventures has daytime and select evening appointments available. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please check out our website.

This fall, we welcomed Buddy to the herd.

Buddy is a 10 year old quarter horse who came from a ranch out west. He is about 16.3 hands tall, which makes him the tallest horse at Hope Adventures. He is a big boy.

But, don’t let his size intimidate you. He is very sweet and loving. He also enjoys scratches, getting brushed and being around people. He is a very good listener and confidence builder.

After taking a few months to get used to his new home, Buddy is ready to be part of therapy sessions.

Daytime therapy appointments are still available. Please visit www.hopeadventures.com for additional information.

This week has been a little crazy.

On Tuesday, we got hit with a really bad storm. A lot of trees came down, including some that caused fence damage. But all the animals are safe. We are still without power at the barn and office but hopefully it soon comes back on. Hopefully therapy sessions can resume next week.

This week also marks the start of the York Fair. The older goats are all settled in and on display at Goat Mountain. Be sure to stop by and give them a little snack.
