Our community members place their trust in us during some of their most vulnerable moments. One patient recently reached out to share what that meant to him.
“I am a longtime patron of York Hospital and Kittery Family Practice. I’m 79 years old, and last night I had to be taken to the emergency department at your hospital. I am calling with deep gratitude. The staff, the nurses, and the doctor treated me very well.
I was scared to death — truly worried about what I had done and not knowing what was happening. It turned out the issue was apparently caused by food I had taken out of the freezer, defrosted, and gotten sick from. By the time I left around 2 a.m., I was feeling much better.
I just want to say thank you to the emergency department team for being exceptional with me. When you are 79 years old, you worry about every little thing that goes wrong with your body, and you think, ‘This may be it.’ But the staff in the emergency department really pulled me back from what had frightened me so much.
So, thank you, thank you, thank you!”
