🎃🕸️ Happy Halloween from Yorkview Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation! 👻🕷️

Today our halls were filled with spooky fun and festive spirit as our staff and residents celebrated Halloween with our annual Costume Contest! From creative costumes to lots of laughter, everyone had a frightfully good time!

We’re excited to announce that this year’s winner was none other than our Director of Social Services — “the witch!” 🪄🖤 Her spellbinding costume and Halloween spirit truly cast a charm on everyone!

🧛‍♀️ Fun Halloween Facts:
🎃 Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival Samhain, marking the end of harvest season.
🍬 Americans spend over $3 billion on Halloween candy each year!
👻 The tradition of dressing up in costumes started as a way to ward off spirits.
🕯️ The first Jack-O’-Lanterns were made from turnips, not pumpkins!

🎃🍬 Happy National Candy Corn Day! 🍬🎃

Here at Yorkview Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, we’re celebrating one of the most iconic Halloween treats — Candy Corn!

Did you know…
🌽 Candy corn was invented in the 1880s by George Renninger of the Wunderlee Candy Company.
🍯 It was originally called “Chicken Feed” because corn was mainly used for livestock back then.
🍬 Each piece has three colors — yellow, orange, and white — to resemble a kernel of corn.
😲 And here’s a fun fact: if you stack candy corn pieces in a circle, they actually form the shape of a corn cob! How cool is that?

Today our facility was filled with creativity and Halloween spirit as we held our Decorating Competition! 🕸️ From offices to nurses’ stations — we went all out transforming these spaces with spooky, fun, and festive themes. 👻🧡

The teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition made the day extra special for both our staff and residents. Everyone truly outdid themselves! 🙌

Our winner was our Memory Care Unit. 🏆 They recieved a gift bucket filled with Halloween goodies! Shout-out to our Director Of Human Resources for putting it together!

A special shoutout to our incredible Spring Garden First Responders — your dedication, courage, and compassion never go unnoticed. Thank you for being there in our moments of need and for always answering the call! 🙏

Let’s all take a moment to thank a first responder today — whether it’s a firefighter, EMT, police officer, or paramedic — your service makes a world of difference!

🐾 Happy National Black Cat Day from all of us at Yorkview Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation! 🐾

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on these sleek, mysterious, and charming felines — the black cat! 🖤

For centuries, black cats have been surrounded by fascinating superstitions:
✨ In some cultures, they’re believed to bring good luck and prosperity — especially if one crosses your path!
🍀 In others, they’ve been unfairly linked to bad luck or witchcraft, especially during the Halloween season.
💍 And in parts of England and Japan, a black cat is said to bring love and happiness to newlyweds.

No matter what the superstition says, we know one thing for sure — black cats are just as lovable, loyal, and full of personality as any other pet! 🐈‍⬛💖

Today we’re celebrating one of fall’s most beloved symbols — the pumpkin! 🎃

Here are a few fun facts about pumpkins:

🍁 Every part of the pumpkin is edible, including the seeds, skin, and flowers.
🍁 The largest pumpkin ever grown weighed over 2,700 pounds!

🌯 Food Truck Fun & Spooky Sweet Treats at Yorkview! 👻

Yesterday was a flavor-filled day here at Yorkview Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation! We had another amazing food truck stop by, “Sam & Jo Gyros.” The food was absolutely delicious. It was such a great turnout, and everyone loved the fresh flavors and friendly vibes! 😋

To top it off, we kept the fun going with a little sweet treat at our front desk to spread some spooky Halloween morale throughout the day. 🎃🍬
