To be part of an event like this is something we take very seriously. This Prom Promise event is about more than a demonstration, it’s about delivering a message that we hope never has to become a reality for the students watching.

While the focus of the day was on showing the very real and devastating impact impaired driving can have on lives, the York Suburban High School EMT students added another meaningful layer to the experience. They did an outstanding job stepping into a high-pressure, emotionally charged scenario, getting a firsthand look at what it’s like when seconds matter and all eyes are on you.

For the students observing, this was a powerful reminder that one decision can change everything. For the EMT students, it was a chance to feel the weight of this profession in a way that can’t be taught in a classroom.

As always, teamwork was on full display. Working alongside our mutual aid partners, we came together to create as realistic and impactful an experience as possible... one that we hope sticks with every student long after the day is over.

If even one person walks away from this event and makes a different choice because of it, then every second was worth it.

We added something a little special to this ambulance…

When taking a closer look at our fleet, we recognized that this particular unit was nearing the end of its front-line service as a patient transport vehicle. But mechanically and structurally, it still has plenty of life left—and we knew we could put it to better use.

Instead of retiring it, we made the decision to repurpose it into something new: a dedicated vehicle for our Community Engagement Team.

This unit will now be out and about across the region, supporting community events, educational programs, standbys, and public outreach initiatives. Having a licensed, fully equipped vehicle dedicated to this mission allows our team to expand their presence, connect with more people, and continue building strong relationships throughout the communities we serve.

You’ll be seeing this ambulance at events, schools, public safety demonstrations, and more—so be sure to stop by, say hello, and check it out!

Interested in having our Community Engagement Team at your event? We’d love to be there.

Over the past several weeks, our stations have been getting a fresh new look with updated paint and improvements throughout.

Thanks to the extra time and effort from our staff, the Yoe Station has been fully completed, with our West York Station currently awaiting its second coat of paint and new interior signage.

These upgrades reflect the pride our team takes in their workplace and the service we provide to our community.

Great work to everyone who contributed—we truly appreciate your dedication!

On Thursday, our friends from Country Meadows stopped by with a bag full of homemade cookies and a thoughtful thank-you card as part of their April “Kindness League.”

We won’t lie—being a food-motivated crew, this was a very appreciated surprise 🍪

Thank you for thinking of us and for spreading a little extra kindness in the community!

This past weekend, several of our newest team members successfully completed an Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC).

The course was conducted in-house by our certified EVOC instructors at our West York station, with the practical driving and cone course held at the Shiloh station of West Manchester Township Fire Department.

Ongoing training like this is just one of the many ways First Capital EMS invests in the safety, skill, and professionalism of our crews.

Great work to both our instructors and students on a job well done!

This morning, several of our crew members traveled to East Berlin to attend the viewing services for EMT Brehm, who passed away suddenly last week while on duty.

Their presence was a small way to stand in support of his family, friends, Dover Area Ambulance, and Northeast Adams Fire & EMS during this difficult time.

We are honored to stand alongside our EMS family in remembering his service and sacrifice.

A few photos of our day out with the York County SPCA for their Tails on the Trail event. What a fun event and we hope to be a part of it next year! Congrats to all of the winners today.

Btw, that beautiful doggo is Dutchess and she is up for adoption. Check out their website for more information!

We also had our Community Engagement Unit on scene handing out FCEMS swag and showing the community what EMS can do.

No calls for service were handled during this event by our dedicated standby crew.

Matt,

Lots of new faces around here (including the guy posting this)... just wanted to let you know that we had your favorite meal again today! We also wanted to promise you and your family that FCEMS will keep passing this tradition down to the next generation(s) to keep your memory alive and well.

Many miss you. Many others wish they had the chance to meet you.

We'll do this again on April 3, 2027.
