Monday's snow put a damper on our plans to Genova's but trust me it was worth the wait until Thursday! The staff is amazing at making us feel welcomed and taken care of.

We made butter, whipped butter, but butter! Only two people in the room had made butter before this day so needless to say we were shocked when it was done in under a half hour. Chef Jason prepared us fresh hot rolls, and we made different flavors of butter. We tried Garlic Parmesan and cinnamon honey. We will do this again.

Time doesn't pause for anyone. We have had quite the week; I wanted to take a minute and share what your loved ones are up to. Last Friday we celebrated Valentines Day the way the residents requested. They asked for a fun party, they got it. We brought Laurel Court and House side together for milkshakes and root beer floats. We sang along to 50's classics and love songs. Not many pictures were taken but the ones that were, show exactly how happy the environment was. Mardi Gras, we enjoyed the laughs of silly masks and fake tattoos. Then on Wednesday we were invited to see the dress rehearsal of North Eastern's musical of W***y Wonka and the Chocolate factory.

I didn't feel that she got the full exposure by putting a clip of her in our comments. Heather from Ascend Hospice deserves her own post with us. The vibe and energy she created was exactly the therapy all of us in that room needed. We can't wait to have her back!

To say her voice is beautiful does not give it enough credit. Heather from Ascend Hospice came to hang out with us today for some much-needed music therapy.

The 90's, we rocked jumpsuits, high ponytails, cowboys were in the Superbowl for the last time and mascara was used both up top and on the bottom. Our dreams were big, but our attitudes were bigger.

Our residents let it know they wanted something different for Valentine's Day. The end result is we are throwing a 50's themed milkshake shoppe karaoke party. Leading up to the event the employees are celebrating the generations by dresses up each day as a different time period. Check back throughout the week to see the results.

The singing mayor has always been a favorite of ours. The residents and employees both know who we are talking about when the mayor is mentioned. It had almost been a year that went by and we hadn't seen him. Well rest assure we found him. His show did not disappoint. Him and his family are always worth the wait.

Three months ago, we started a Resident Ambassador program. The idea was to have a group of helpful residents to welcome new residents and to be available to their neighbors for any help they may need. This team has surpassed anything I thought it could be. Watching them offer to walk someone back to their room. We had one ride an elevator when she usually takes the steps, just to show a new friend the route she would usually take. Last month they come up with an idea to throw a party to encourage engagement with someone new. And we did. Today we had a game day, blackjack, balloon pop, bean bag toss, spin art, air hockey. All stations were ran by ambassadors. New friends were made; goal was achieved. Special Shout Out to Lisa from Ascend Hospice, her help and vibes are always unmatched.

It takes a village. This phrase is true throughout life. There are days of the month that there is no one 'working' in activities. However, there are never days when something isn't happening. Those days are where the village is crucial. No matter what it is, just gathering everyone for a movie or making sure everyone knows that the weekend of fun and music isn't over and Doug and Adair are here to give another great performance...... The village at AHW makes it happen. Thank you to all the nurses and housekeeping that made sure residents had a time today.
