Every day, 3 children under age 6 go to the ER for burns related to fireplaces, including gas fireplaces.

Protect your children from fireplace burn injuries by following these safety tips:
• Actively supervise your children when around fireplaces and teach your children about the dangers of fire at an early age.
• Never leave a fire in the fireplace unattended, and make sure that your fire is completely out before going to bed or leaving the house.
• Ensure your gas fireplace has a safety screen or safety gate.

Warning- social media photos and influencers often promote unsafe infant sleep situations. Read the Consumer Reports story to better understand current trends around the sleep related death of babies under 1 year of age.

recently drew attention to the rise of unsafe imagery and misinformation about infant sleep across social media. When well-meaning parents scroll for advice, what they see matters. Images of babies sleeping with blankets, pillows, or in loungers send the wrong message and can have tragic consequences.

It’s a critical reminder that every photo, post, and conversation shapes how families think about safety. That's why we are collaborating with key partners to ensure all families have access to safe and accurate imagery and information on safe sleep. Safe Kids Worldwide strives to be a trusted resource for parents, caregivers, and professionals working to keep kids safe.
