Honesty and integrity are not optional in the fields of mental health and addiction treatment — they are the foundation of the work we do.

Every day, professionals in this space are entrusted with people at their most vulnerable. Individuals and families rely on us to act ethically, protect confidentiality, and make decisions that prioritize care over profit or personal gain.

Because of that responsibility, ethical conduct matters just as much as clinical skill.

If someone has stolen from a previous employer or violated the ethical codes of multiple licensing bodies, it raises serious concerns about whether they should be trusted to work in environments that require the highest level of integrity. In this field, our credibility is everything. When ethical boundaries are crossed, the damage goes far beyond a workplace dispute — it undermines trust in systems designed to help people heal.

Organizations, unions, and treatment providers must be diligent in who they place in positions of responsibility. Transparency, accountability, and strong ethical standards protect not only the organizations we serve, but more importantly the individuals seeking help.

The mental health and addiction field does incredible work. But protecting its integrity requires the courage to hold the line on ethics — even when it’s uncomfortable.

Because in this work, trust isn’t just important.
IT IS EVERYTHING!

Union leadership has always fought to protect wages, benefits, and the wellbeing of your members. In today’s environment, protecting mental health and controlling rising healthcare costs go hand in hand.

At LHV EAP, we partner directly with union health and welfare funds to:

✔️ Reduce unnecessary out-of-network claim costs through strategic negotiation
✔️ Support members navigating substance use and mental health challenges
✔️ Provide confidential, high-quality behavioral health and EAP services
✔️ Protect defined benefit and multi-employer plans from avoidable financial strain

When unions allow us to advocate on their behalf, we consistently generate meaningful savings — while ensuring members receive appropriate, ethical, and clinically sound care.

Mental health is not separate from financial health. Strong funds support strong members. Strong members support strong unions.

If your fund is looking to reduce claims costs while prioritizing the wellbeing of your members and their families, let’s start a conversation.

📩 Message us directly to learn how we can help your union save — without compromising care.

Grateful to Governor Kathy Hochul for signing S7485/A8465 into law and standing with the working men and women of New York State.

This important legislation is a major victory for the Teamsters, ensuring that concrete and asphalt haulers on public works projects finally receive the prevailing wage protections they have long deserved. These drivers are essential to the success of our public infrastructure, and this law rightly recognizes the skill, responsibility, and hard work they bring to every job.

This is also a win for New York’s construction industry and for the many signatory contractors we proudly partner with. By aligning standards across neighboring localities and extending protections that have long existed in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, this law provides consistency, fairness, and a level playing field for responsible contractors who are committed to doing things the right way.

We also want to extend sincere thanks to State Senator Shelley Mayer, Assemblyman Steve Otis, and the countless other legislators who supported our efforts and advocated on behalf of the working men and women of Westchester, Putnam, and New York City. Their leadership and commitment to fairness made this victory possible.

Teamsters Local 456 believes strong labor standards and strong labor-management partnerships go hand in hand. This law reinforces that shared commitment to quality work, fair competition, and economic dignity for the workers who build and maintain our communities.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us and helped make this long-overdue protection a reality.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang says the next generation of American millionaires won’t come from tech or finance, but from skilled trades like plumbing and electrical work. He emphasized that demand for these jobs is skyrocketing as infrastructure and housing booms meet a severe labor shortage.

With trade schools producing fewer graduates each year, skilled workers are commanding record wages some surpassing six figures annually without college debt.

Huang’s comments highlight a broader trend of shifting wealth dynamics in the U.S., where hands-on trades are emerging as the new frontier for financial freedom.

Just a reminder that your mental health is just as important as any other part of your health.

You are loved, and you deserve to be here. Take care of yourself.

One of the most unprofessional patterns I continue to see in this industry is marketers marketing to other marketers.

Let’s be honest—it’s a bad look.
It makes treatment centers appear more concerned with outshining competitors than with serving clients and families. It reduces credibility, weakens trust, and shifts the focus away from the people who actually matter:
✔️ Individuals battling addiction
✔️ Families desperate for help
✔️ Communities searching for real resources

When marketing becomes about impressing peers rather than reaching those in need, it exposes a troubling priority problem. It suggests that appearances and industry recognition are valued over client care. When marketing efforts are directed inward, it creates an echo chamber. It prioritizes competition and optics over genuine connection, credibility, and impact.

The substance abuse field is not just another market—it’s a place where lives are literally on the line. Every ad, post, or campaign should reflect that reality. Marketing that turns inward doesn’t just miss the mark—it undermines the integrity of the entire field.
