I don’t know about anyone else but it’s been a self care kind of weekend. Self care is critical for optimal mental and emotional health.

How ever you care for yourself whether that’s doing something relaxing for yourself, participating in an activity in a group or alone, tending to your needs in anyway, whatever it is you get to decide what’s self care. It can be as simple as taking a bath, watching a show, meditating, getting a massage, getting a your hair done/a haircut, making a small purchase for yourself, hanging out with friends. Whatever helps you to recharge, relax, and/or feel good about yourself can be self care. This weekend I was able go fishing, take a nap, hang out with friends and unwind a little 🍺 🍹 …you know adult things 😆 (responsibly however).

It’s the last day of mental health awareness month!

Just a little mental health tip for your timeline. Gratitude is a protective factor and a coping skill to help deal with depressive and anxious thoughts. True gratitude brings you into the present moment and gives you an appreciation for where you are. The result is that being in the present helps to curb the “what ifs” of anxiety and appreciation fights the “life sucks” of depression.

While there are many other things to build resilience against depression and anxiety, including therapy in some cases, gratitude is a great start!
