Because I obsessively counted each and every one.

Why?

I lived in all-or-nothing thinking.

Diet mentality.

Restricting. Removing countless foods as "bad." Cutting calories constantly.

Creating a metabolic black hole. And cravings that spiked like an out-of-body experience.

So when the holiday season came, it was a f-ing free-for-all.

Gates opened. Bring it. All the things I would not allow myself to enjoy.

Plus, my nervous system was SHOT. Always in fight or flight.

A depleting and vicious cycle.

Ready to protect your metabolism before you’re knee-deep in cookies, stress, in-laws, and “I’ll start in January” BS?

3 things that keep midlife metabolism steady when life gets even louder:

1. Strength first.
Not cardio.
Build muscle → stabilize blood sugar → reduce cravings.
2x week minimum.  And then just MOVE MORE.  

2. Protein + fiber at every meal.
Your hunger hormones can’t hijack you when you’re fed.
With every meal and snack, ask yourself, “What is my protein source here?”  

3. Nervous system downshifts.
5 minutes, girl.  
Box breathe.
