For a decade, he told himself the same story:

“This is hard.”
“This is impossible.”
“I can’t change, no matter how hard I try.”
“Every new attempt is harder than the last.”

He’d been trying to take back control of a part of his life that felt completely out of his hands.

And he’s right - it was difficult.

But in our second hypnosis session together, something shifted…

With his eyes closed, I could see that old tension starting to melt away as his nervous system rewired the old story right in front of me…

He’d discovered the hidden switch between self-doubt and self-belief.

The truth is that we’ve all got one.

It’s just a matter of knowing the right way to tap into it to create the change we want to see in our lives.

This hidden switch is the difference between running into the “I can’t” wall and giving up (that try-fail loop) and “I can do this” follow-through on your success.

You know that moment when you know you really want to change something about yourself, you’re excited to begin, you get some momentum… but then you find yourself stalling out for reasons you can’t quite put your finger on?

That hidden switch interrupts that cycle.

And that shift?

It doesn’t come from effort, and it doesn’t come from trying harder to make a change.

It comes from a simple awareness.

From recognizing just how subtle the story of “I can’t” has become.

The moment you notice that story is the moment you turn the switch on.

And most people never notice it because they’re chasing big, obvious, dramatic changes in their lives…

Like the artwork or the plants or the lighting or the handmade blanket or the zebra chairs or the scent of the day in the essential oil diffuser.

The modern landscape for the world of weight loss is noisy.

We’re bombarded with social media influencers talking about their success with supplements and the newest diet fad. And the “pill-ification” of weight loss is nothing new, but it’s roaring with the update of semaglutide in pill form to make it feel like it’s as simple as taking a daily multivitamin. And our society is still protein obsessed (goodness – do we need it in everything?), but fiber is making its comeback as science has proven the gut-brain axis is totally not just some woo-woo thing.

And with all these updates, even me, the hypnotist, was wondering: is hypnosis still relevant for weight loss in 2026?S

use this regularly to build your intuitive muscle so that you from your "future self" you're trying to become. try it for a few days and notice what changes.

this will interrupt the old pattern of self-doubt and help you become more decisive.

when you catch yourself in the loop, try this:

1 - PAUSE & take 3 deep breaths

2 - ASK "what would my future self do right now?"

3 - LISTEN for the answer - a nudge, a hint, a mental image, a feeling, a sensation, an impression, a phrase. something like that.

4 - ACT - take one small action in that direction. notice how it feels.

5 - FEEL the satisfaction of listening to your intuition and taking one small step towards your ideal "future self."

this little ritual is enough to start rewiring your behavior & thought patterns, and it will help to create momentum in your life.

but what if you're not clear on "future you"?

what if you're not sure exactly who you want to be yet?

or what if you have a vague notion of what you want to become but not sure about the details?

I used to struggle with making decisions.

Especially when it came to stuff that really mattered to me. The stuff that would change my life in a meaningful way.

Big dreams and goals. Habits. Relationships. Career. Finances. How to use my free time.

I’d get so frustrated with myself, because on some level sometimes, I had a feeling for what I “should” be doing, but I just wasn’t doing it. And the indecision, lack of action, and inconsistency eroded my self-confidence even more over time.

You know that gnawing feeling when you realize you’re procrastinating a choice, a change, a decision you need to make?

Maybe you’re afraid of failing. Or of the unknown. Of uncertainty. Or even missing out on what you stand to lose by making a choice and sticking with it. Or maybe you think you don’t know the right thing to do.

And if something in you is screaming, “YES, THIS IS ME,” do not fret, lovely human. I stumbled upon something a few years ago that has made decisions so much easier, and I’m going to share it with you right now.

It’s the one thing I wish someone had taught me way sooner.

This is the time of year I get super busy.

With every New Year comes a fresh round of people who are curious about how hypnosis can help them create some kind of change in their lives.

For most it’s some kind of lifestyle change, like weight loss, or quitting an unhealthy habit like smoking.

For others it’s to let go of something from the past, or to build the confidence and courage to take on new opportunities in life.

But for everyone who comes to me seeking hypnotherapy as a New Year’s resolution solution, the real goal underneath is the same...

You want to create some kind of positive change in your life that you believe will bring you more happiness, health, and fulfillment.

And what better time of year to make a new start than the fresh New Year?

Psychologically, it’s like turning the page as we add 1 to the calendar year, a chance to reset.
