This morning's Thanksgiving Bag distribution was a blast! (and we don't just mean a blast of chilly, winter air! 🥶) Volunteers came together to greet guests and load their cars up with a free Thanksgiving turkey and bag of fixins! We love what we do here, and it shows in all of our volunteers' bright smiles.

☑️ How to help those affected by SNAP cuts:

6) SUSTAIN THE EFFORT — When emergencies happen, folks are quick to jump in to help. But when struggle becomes "the new normal," emergency help starts to fade away. Plan to be part of the solution in the long term—however long this situation takes—and beyond. Whether that's making a food drive an annual part of your community's rhythm, or setting up a recurring donation to local food programs like Hope Clinic or , we need folks to sustain the effort, not JUST respond to emergencies.

☑️ How to help those affected by SNAP cuts:

5) SMALL THINGS WITH GREAT LOVE — here's the straight talk. None of our local programs are going to be able to fill the gap that losing SNAP leaves behind. We have to learn to live a different way, with each of us taking more responsibility for the needs of our immediate neighbors and communities. All of us taking small actions, like hosting a few college students or neighbors chili night once a week, or keeping a Little Free Pantry stocked, might just do it. We love you and believe in you. Thank you.

4) PRAY — We believe in the power of God to make a way. We urge you to be relentless in your prayers on behalf of the vulnerable. Pray that God softens hearts, opens new possibilities, performs miracles, and puts each of us where we're needed.

"I came to Hope Clinic in need of help. I had depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I left my dream job because of my anxiety and depression. I feared leaving my home, driving became a nightmare, I was in financial hardship."

Because of your support, Hope was able to connect this client with a licensed, professional clinician for weekly therapy at no cost.

"My therapist and I talked about my dreams, fears and my strengths. When I started therapy, I told my therapist that I would never get on a plane, and that I don't think I can work because I may not be a reliable person. Recently, I flew to visit my son and grandchildren and, and I spent my birthday out of state with my oldest son. The most amazing part is that I am now working full time, and no longer have fears of leaving my home and engaging with people."

3) FINANCIAL DONATION — Giving online is one of the easiest and most effective ways to keep our pantry running. We also recommend supporting (the biggest supplier of Hope's pantry). We simply cannot meet the scale of this expanded need at Hope alone, but FG are experts at deploying food support all across the county. This "upstream" support flows down not only to Hope Clinic, but nimbly to wherever the most effective use of those dollars will be—and that's what's most important!
