Already in 2026, over 700 measles cases have been reported in 20 U.S. jurisdictions. Make sure you and your family are protected. MMR vaccines are highly effective (97% with two doses), and protection is considered lifelong.

This week, we talked with WEMU 89.1 about what to know https://bit.ly/4acdGlW

🩹We're offering walk-in MMR vaccines during certain clinic hours at 555 Towner in Ypsilanti! Come get vaccinated or ask us to check your record on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 3:30pm and on Fridays from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Here's a reminder of vaccine guidance:
🩹 Kids should get two doses of MMR vaccine, starting with the first dose at 12 to 15 months old and the second dose at 4 to 6 years old. If your family plans to travel somewhere with measles cases, young children may be able to get an early vaccine dose – check with us or your pediatrician.

🩹 If you’re an adult who got two doses of MMR vaccine as a child according to the U.S. vaccination schedule, the CDC considers you to be protected for life against measles. If you were born before 1957, you are presumed to be immune as you likely were infected in childhood.

🩹 If you're an adult and unsure of your vaccination status, contact your health care provider or ask us. If have been vaccinated in Michigan, you may be able to check your record here: https://mdhhsmiimmsportal.state.mi.us/

Cases of measles continue to climb. This year alone, there have been four times the number of cases reported in the U.S. than in a normal given year. WEMU’s Caroline MacGregor reports.

Tomorrow, we honor National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a day to recommit to ending HIV/AIDS stigma, increasing testing, and connecting Black communities with life-saving HIV prevention tools and treatment.

Even though tremendous progress in HIV care and prevention has been made, persisting racism and discrimination in the health care system can prevent Black people from seeking or receiving HIV services.

As a result, Black communities still experience significant HIV disparities and barriers in accessing HIV treatment and PrEP.

➡️ PrEP is medicine that can lower your chances of getting HIV from s*x or sharing needles or other injection equipment. Taking PrEP as prescribed by a health care provider can reduce the chances of getting HIV by up to 99% from s*x and by at least 74% from sharing needles or other injection equipment.

We can help you get on PrEP! Call us at 734-544-6700 or visit the link in the comments for more info.

Any home could have a radon problem: about 40% of homes in Washtenaw have high radon levels. The only way to know is to do a test.

Because homes are closed up tight during the colder months, winter is the best time to test for radon!

We have radon test kits for only $5 through this Friday (2/6). After that, the price goes back up to $15. Get the details and see other community pick-up locations using the link in the comments.
