What do health experts, local and state officials, and 77% of Michigan voters have in common?

They all oppose the Wayne County Airport Authority's plan to open a cigar bar in the Detroit Metro Airport.

⚠️ There are no safe levels of secondhand smoke. That's why *nearly all* airports in the country ban indoor smoking. Travelers and airport workers deserve the right to breathe clean air.

To protect health, the DTW airport must remain smoke-free. You can share your thoughts and learn more using the links in the comments.

There is no link between vaccines and autism. A fraudulent study started this rumor, and decades of research have debunked it.

Vaccines save lives and protect kids from serious diseases. Vaccines are one of the most important public health innovations ever – right up there with clean drinking water.

Additionally, there is no single, root cause of autism. Autism is a natural part of human diversity and autistic people deserve respect and support.

If you have questions about vaccines and your kids, talk with your child’s pediatrician.

RSV isn’t “just a cold.” It can make people very sick, and older adults and babies are at higher risk.

Last season in , RSV hospitalizations start rising in late November. Get vaccinated now for protection throughout RSV season!

✅ FYI: if you already got an RSV vaccine, you don't need another dose. The RSV vaccine is not an annual vaccine, so you don't need to get a dose every year.

This time of year reminds us to be thankful for things like family and health. One thing we're especially grateful for? Syphilis testing and treatment that protects both parents and babies.

Syphilis testing is a routine part of prenatal care, just like checking your blood pressure or doing an ultrasound. Testing is safe and important, and it helps protect your baby’s health. When syphilis goes untreated during pregnancy, it can pass to the baby and cause serious complications.

➡️Thankfully, syphilis can be treated with medication to protect your health and prevent transmission to partners or babies. Getting treatment early and staying on track with treatment is key to making sure you and your baby are healthy.

If you have questions, talk to your health care provider or call the Health Department to schedule a syphilis test (734-544-6700)!
