This surprises almost everyone.

Your jaw, diaphragm, deep core, and pelvic floor are part of the same pressure system in your body. When one area is tight, guarded, or not moving well, the others often compensate.

That means things like:
• chronic jaw clenching or TMJ
• neck and shoulder tension
• breath holding or shallow breathing
• core weakness or low back pain

can be connected to:
• pelvic pain
• leaking
• pelvic pressure
• pain with intimacy
• postpartum or post-surgical symptoms

Pelvic health isn’t just about the pelvis.
It’s about how your whole body manages pressure, breath, and stability.

At The Well, pelvic health physical therapy looks beyond symptoms and asks why your body is compensating—so we can help it function better, not just “cope.”

If no one has ever explained this connection to you before, you’re not alone.
And you’re not broken.

Why are we still whispering about pelvic health?

So many women are living daily with things like leakage, pressure, prolapse, or discomfort—and have been told (directly or indirectly) that it’s just something to “accept,” especially after childbirth or with age.

But here’s the truth:
These symptoms are common, not normal.
And you don’t have to live with them in silence.

Pelvic floor therapy isn’t just about pregnancy or postpartum care. It’s about restoring strength, coordination, and confidence in a part of the body that supports nearly everything you do—standing, moving, exercising, laughing, living.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, embarrassed, or unsure whether what you’re experiencing is “worth bringing up,” let this be your permission:
You’re allowed to talk about it.
You’re allowed to ask for help.
And healing is possible.

Some of the most impactful health concerns are the ones no one asks about.

Pelvic health symptoms are incredibly common—yet they’re often missed, minimized, or simply never screened for during routine healthcare visits. Things like pelvic pressure, leaking, pain, core weakness, or changes after pregnancy, surgery, or aging are frequently brushed off as “normal.”

They’re common—but they are not something you have to live with.

At The Well, we believe better care starts with better conversations. Our pelvic health physical therapy focuses on understanding the whole picture, identifying root causes, and restoring strength, function, and confidence in a way that feels respectful and empowering.

If something doesn’t feel right in your body, that matters.
If you’ve been told “that’s just part of life,” there may be more support available.
And if no one has ever asked you about pelvic health—we will.

Hip pain that won’t go away? The issue might not be your hip.

Many people are surprised to learn that pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute directly to hip pain. The pelvic floor works closely with your hips, glutes, deep core, and low back to support movement and stability. When these muscles aren’t coordinating well—whether they’re too tight, too weak, or overworking—the hip often ends up compensating.

This can show up as:

deep hip or groin pain

pain with walking, sitting, or standing

discomfort during exercise

hip pain that doesn’t improve with stretching or strengthening alone

Pelvic floor physical therapy addresses the root cause, not just the symptom. By restoring proper muscle coordination, improving core and pelvic stability, and releasing overactive muscles, we help take unnecessary strain off the hip.

If you’ve tried “all the right things” and still feel stuck, this may be the missing piece. Healing often starts when we look at the whole system—not just the painful spot.

Why Prolapse Surgery Sometimes Fails

Prolapse surgery is often presented as a “fix.”
But for many women, symptoms return months or years later.

Why?

Because surgery can lift or suspend tissue—but it doesn’t automatically address why the prolapse happened in the first place.

Pelvic organ prolapse is rarely just a tissue problem. It’s often influenced by:

Poor pressure management (how you breathe, lift, cough, and bear down)

Pelvic floor muscle weakness or poor coordination

Core dysfunction

Chronic straining, constipation, or improper movement patterns

Scar tissue or nervous system guarding after birth or surgery

When those underlying contributors aren’t addressed, the same forces that caused the prolapse continue to stress the repair.

Pelvic health physical therapy focuses on the foundation:
how your body manages pressure, how your muscles coordinate, and how your daily movements either support or strain your pelvic organs.

Surgery may be appropriate for some women—but it should never be the only conversation.

Your body isn’t failing.
It’s asking for support, not just repair.
