Insurance non-renewals are hitting the Hi-Desert hard. But you’re not alone, and you have options.

On December 3rd at 6pm, Desert Region Fire Safe is hosting a community conversation at our Fire Prevention Office located in the MVFD East Station 2 to help homeowners understand what’s changing, what’s coming in 2026, and how to protect your home (and your wallet).

Local insurance professionals + Fire Safe leaders will break it all down and answer your questions live.

From a quiet old unmanned station for 20 years… to a living, breathing Fire Prevention Office & Disaster Community Center 🔥

Brought back to life through vision, community grit, and a lot of hands-on work by the Desert Region Fire Safe team.

Grateful to Morongo Valley CSD & FD, CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit, Assemblymember Greg Wallis, and friends for standing with us at the ribbon-cutting.

Shout out to Whitewater Rock & Supply Co. for the generous Zone 0 material donation to the facility 🪨 and to Southern California Edison (SCE), California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, Listos California, Yamaha Outdoors.

This is what community looks like when it’s built by grit, sweat, and neighbors who care. 🏜️💪

On Friday October 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Justin Merino will teach simple skills in this free, condensed workshop.

“…we’re going to be teaching hands-on CPR, which anyone can do. You don’t need a certification for that. And then we’re going to be teaching what Wilderness First Aid is. And folks might be curious, what is the wilderness? Lots of times people think of the forested area. They think of Big Bear as the wilderness. They think of lakes and green trees, but we are in the wilderness here.

In terms of medicine, Wilderness First Aid is going to be your response time and how you approach a situation. So if we’re looking at a response time from definitive care, meaning getting to a hospital, an ambulance, we’re looking at an hour to two days.”

On Friday October 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Justin Merino will teach simple skills in this free, condensed workshop. Here Veronica Koltuniak, Copper
