YEAH Students Explore Careers at UF Health Wildlight

YEAH students toured UF Health Wildlight on Feb. 11, gaining firsthand exposure to clinical and administrative roles. Students said the visit helped them better understand health care career options and provided new insights into specific roles. Many reported increased interest in pursuing a health care career. They especially valued the facility tours, including seeing radiology equipment up close, as well as conversations with staff. Students noted they felt welcomed, engaged, and encouraged to ask questions.

We’re collecting non-perishable food items to support local families in need. Your kindness and generosity can bring comfort and hope to those who need it most.
📦 Donation boxes are located at the bottom of the stairs and by the second-floor elevator entrance.
📅 Collection runs through November 20th and benefits Gracie’s Kitchen in Yulee.

This year alone, our Wildlight Radiology staff has performed well over 25,000 imaging studies. Your work truly makes a difference in patient care and safety — thank you for all that you do!

A Look Back: The History of Radiology
Radiology has come a long way since its discovery!
🩻 1895 – Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered X-rays, forever changing medicine.
🩻 The first X-ray image was of his wife’s hand — her wedding ring clearly visible.
🩻 By 1896, X-rays were already being used in hospitals to diagnose fractures and locate foreign objects.
🩻 Over the decades, innovation expanded the field with CT scans (1970s), MRI (1980s), Ultrasound, and Digital Imaging — each revolutionizing how we see inside the human body.
🩻 Today, Radiologic Technologists combine technology and compassion to provide essential imaging that supports diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
