Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller was the first known Black psychiatrist in the United States and a pioneer in neurology and mental health research.

His work advanced early understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and helped lay the foundation for modern psychiatry, often without recognition during his lifetime.

This Black History Month, we honor his legacy and the lasting impact of Black leaders like Dr. Fuller in mental health.

We asked our community in Nassau County, and 40% of respondents said that stigma keeps them from seeking support. Stigma lies to you. Stigma convinces people to stay quiet when they need support the most.

It tells them to tough it out, hide it, or deal with it alone.

But mental health struggles are real.
And getting help is one of the strongest things a person can do.

If this message hits close to home, you are not alone.
Support is available. And you deserve it. 💚
