February 10, 2026 Update: The male victim injured in the collision succumbed to his injuries. He is identified as Jesus Velazquez, 31, of Yuma, AZ. Next of kin notification has been made.
This case remains under investigation at this time.

Serious Injury Collision
Location of Incident: E. County 18 ½ Street and S. Avenue 3E - Yuma, AZ
On Monday, February 9, 2026, at approximately 6:29 AM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 3-vehicle collision in the area of E. County 18 ½ Street and S. Avenue 3E.
The initial investigation revealed two subjects were standing near their parked vehicles along the south side of County 18 ½ , when a red Mazda truck traveling westbound on County 18 ½, veered into the eastbound lanes and collided with the parked vehicles. Both subjects were struck by the impact and seriously injured. The driver of the Mazda left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation.
The victims are a 28-year-old female and a 31-year-old male. Rural Metro Fire - Yuma County responded and both victims have been flown to a Phoenix area hospital due to serious injuries.
This case remains under investigation at this time.
