Every second counts. Every heartbeat matters.

Dr. Kameel Kassab, Interventional Cardiologist, explains why “door-to-balloon time” is one of the most critical measures in emergency heart care.

Thanks to the expertise and rapid collaboration of our EMS partners, Emergency Department staff and our Cardiac Cath Lab, we’re able to restore blood flow quickly when minutes make all the difference.

If you or someone near you experiences warning signs of a heart attack, call 911 immediately. Do not drive yourself to the hospital. Paramedics begin life-saving care before you even arrive.

During American Heart Month and every day of the year, we are here 24/7 for our community.

We started our morning with Radio Sin Fronteras 99.9 FM!

Romeo Barcenas, RN, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator and Cynthia Brotherton, RN, Chest Pain Program Coordinator, joined the conversation to talk about heart health, stroke awareness and what our community should know in a medical emergency.

They discussed the warning signs and symptoms of stroke and heart attack and the importance of recognizing them early. They emphasized that when it comes to these emergencies, every minute matters.

Most importantly, they reminded everyone: don’t drive to the hospital by yourself and call 911. Activating EMS right away ensures patients receive immediate care and life-saving treatment can begin before arriving at the hospital.

We’re grateful to Radio Sin Fronteras for the opportunity to connect with our community and share information that helps everyone stay informed, prepared and protected.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Yuma Wellness & Care Fair!🧡

In collaboration with the City of Yuma Government and Yuma Sun, we had an amazing day connecting with our community and sharing resources focused on heart health and prevention.

Throughout the event, visitors stopped by our booths for blood pressure checks, chest pain and stroke education and learned more about important topics like sepsis awareness. Our team also helped community members schedule primary care visits on site and register for MyCare, making it easier to stay connected to their care.

We also hosted “Walk with a Doc” sessions, giving participants the opportunity to connect with our providers while enjoying a guided walk focused on health and wellness. The walks were led by Cynthia Brotherton, RN, Myesha Thompson (Onvida Health Wellness Coach) and Dr. Kaitlyn Walter.

We also want to express our gratitude to our featured speakers, who shared valuable information to help our community feel informed and prepared:
• Dr. Preeti Chandra discussed heart health, common cardiac concerns and the importance of recognizing symptoms early.
• Dr. Kaitlyn Walter highlighted the role of primary care, including preventive care and the importance of annual checkup visits.
• Carol Smith, NP, shared life-saving information on CPR and why knowing the basics can make a difference in an emergency.
• Cynthia Brotherton, RN, Taylor Green, RN and Romeo Barcenas, RN spoke about the importance of dialing 911 when someone is having a heart attack and what to expect when calling for emergency care.

Plus, we loved giving away t-shirts and chocolates and having so many great conversations throughout the day.

Thank you for spending your Saturday with us and taking steps toward better health. We loved seeing our community come together!
