During the government shutdown, our consumers are feeling the pressure. If you’re able, please donate non-perishable food to support neighbors with disabilities in Yuma and La Paz Counties.
Most needed: canned proteins, vegetables, fruit, peanut butter, rice, pasta, shelf-stable milk, baby items, and hygiene essentials. Please make sure items are unopened and not expired.
Drop-off at SMILE or message us to coordinate a pickup. You can also give directly to the Yuma Community Food Bank. Every can counts and every act of kindness matters.
Also please take a moment to contact our legislators and share what you’re seeing during this crisis. Visit The Arc of Arizona’s advocacy page for easy tools:

Questions or to arrange a donation: send us a message or email info@smile-az.org. Thank you for showing up for our community. ❤️

✨💜💛Yesterday, S.M.I.L.E had the pleasure of joining the Yuma Union High School District for an engaging outreach event focused on inclusion, independence, and empowerment. Our team connected with students, educators, and community partners to share resources, discuss independent living services, and inspire future leaders to see disability as a form of diversity and strength. It was an amazing opportunity to build awareness, foster collaboration, and remind young people that independence begins with self-advocacy and community support.💜💛✨

🌹SMILE authentic APRIL (Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living) Rose Conference in Portland!🌹💛
What an incredible weekend in Portland for THE APRIL Rose Conference! We may have taken a few scenic detours on the red MAX transit and survived a surprise 2:30 a.m. Lyft cancelation, but the Conference, the food, and the insightsmade it all worth it. It was truly a wonderful bonding experience for SMILE's new board members and director! Kellie Rice, Michelle Lydick, Patricia Quiroz, Marissela Hodges, Ron Frasier.

Our office refrigerator has stopped working, and we are reaching out to our community for support. If you or someone you know has a gently used fridge they'd like to donate, we would be grateful. Your contribution would directly help us continue serving our community each day!
