Shirley A Norris 90 formerly of Zanesville, Ohio passed away at 12:50 am Monday April 6, 2026, at her home of her son. She was born August 23, 1935, in Lowell Ohio a daughter of Joseph H. Burke Jr., and Vesta Chandler Burke.

Shirley graduated from Lowell High School, she worked in Essex until retiring.

She is survived by her son and daughters Kevin and Debbie Norris of Zanesville, Neva Norris of Zanesville Ohio, Kerry Norris and fiancé Melba of Jackson TN, Randy and Sherry Norris of Frazeysburg Ohio, Myra Norris of Hinesville GA, Rocky and Donna Norris of Zanesville Ohio, Dan and Inger Mitchell Prouty of Newark Ohio. She had nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and her grandchildren and great kids. She loved them and cared for them all of her kids and grandchildren and great kids and neighbors. Especially Karen White and Karen Hill the Girtons, Larry and Linda Hatfield, John Smith.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenny H. Norris, Daughter Alberta Norris, Daughter/grandchild Angie M Norris, Trey Norris and Kyle Norris.

Brother and sister Mckinley Burke, Joseph H Burke Jr., Robert Burke, Donald Burke, Lillian Burke, Dorothy Peyton, Eloise F. White, Ethel Rush, Mary Hughes, Betty Stewart.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Michael Pugh, a cherished son, devoted brother, and beloved friend, who left this world unexpectedly on March 30, 2026, at the age of 24. Born on August 22, 2001, in Columbus, Ohio, Jack spent his formative years in Hilliard and Plain City, where he became known for his infectious smile, his humility, and his vibrant energy.

Jack was not only a dedicated and hard-working plumber but also an accomplished athlete who excelled in both football and basketball during his school years. He was a proud graduate of Wisconsin University, where played football and pursued his passions with vigor and dedication. His love for sports was matched only by his love for people; Jack had a huge heart and an innate ability to connect with everyone he met. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on family, friends, and colleagues alike.

He is survived by his loving father, Daniel Pugh II; his devoted mother, Kimberly Pugh; and his elder brother, Trey Pugh, sister-in-law, Liza Pugh, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. Jack's family was his foundation, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In celebration of Jack's life, there will be visitation hours at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 5471 Frazell Road, Hilliard Ohio, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on April 3rd, followed by a service at the same location from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a truly remarkable individual.

As we grieve, let us also celebrate the extraordinary life of Jack Michael Pugh, a young man who lived with passion, love, and an unwavering commitment to those around him. He may have departed from this world, but his spirit will forever be carried in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

GERTRUDE RUTH GREEN went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2026, at Willow Haven Care Facility at the age of 92. She was lovingly welcomed onto this earth on December 11, 1933, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Rueben H. and Ada (Honesty) Allen. She was a lifetime resident of Zanesville and attended Zanesville schools graduating from Lash High School in 1951. That same year she met and married the love of her life Samuel Louis Green on October 6, 1951. They were married for 50 years and blessed with six children. Everyone that knew her called her mom and she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother and special friend to everyone.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Samuel L Green in 2002, grandson Myron J Green, beloved brother James Allen and sister-in-law Vivian Allen, sisters Mary L Noble and brother-in-law Sandy Noble Sr and infant sister Eula Allen as well as special nephews Gorden, Max, Jeffrey Allen, Sandy Noble Jr, niece Melisa Noble and son in law Darryl Groce.

Gertrude leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Diane Groce, Martha K Green, Louis (Karen) Green, Starla Doty, Kimberly Crump and Timothy (Margaret) Green. Grandchildren Reonita Green, William Harris, Donese Harris, Andrea Collins, Chrissy Harris, Tamika Ogletree, Vernon Green, Kiiwana Goins, Alyssa Manns, Leeann Grimes, Tasha Dennis, Lydia Pryor, Amber Green, Ashley Gann, Dustin Green, Allison Hogan, Joby Doty, Brittany Caldwell, Brie Crump, Brandon Ray, Whitney Green-Wiley and Stephanie Green, a generous host of great, great-great, and great-great-great-grandchildren. A special brother-in-law Earl Green of Arizona and special niece Pamela (Craig) Elder, special nephew Todd (Toni) Allen, Goddaughter Stacy Duling and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was very active in many organizations over the past 60 years and at the time of her she was Deaconess of the Church.

After her youngest child started school, she went to work for at the Muskingum County Health department as an in-home nursing ad. She retired to take on the job of babysitting grandchildren, because no one could do it better. As the children grew up, she went back to work as a cook for Kinder Care Day Care Center, then retired once again to take care of her great grandchild.

She was a wonderful cook and there was always someone looking over her shoulder learning one of her recipes. She made a catalog of favorite recipes for all the girls for their kitchens. She loved to read and shop and go on outings spending time with her family. She also loved purses and shoes and dressing up in beautiful suits. She will truly be missed by all who knew her as Gerty and as the special person that she was She had a wonderful smile and was a beautiful person.

You may call on the family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 6pm until 8pm at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville as well as on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Union Baptist Church from 10am until 11am with funeral services starting at 11am. Marla Alfreda Marie Guy, 66, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2026. Marla was born February 8, 1960, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Marland. and Kay (Willett) Guy. In addition to her parents, Marla is also preceded in death by her two brothers, Gilbert Guy and David Guy. Marla leaves to mourn her passing: Two sons, Richard Kaiser (Helen Campbell), Jeffery Andrew (Heather) Norris; five grandkids, Kimberly & Kyle Cavis, Ricky IV, and Mila Kaiser, Raelynn Norris; her siblings, Marland (Lela) Guy Jr., and Jeffery Guy. Mother-in-Law Nell Norris, two bonus sons, James (Dude) & John (Tiny) Norris, several nieces and nephews, lifelong companion & special friend John Norris, and a host of other family and friends.

Marla was a graduate of Zanesville High School. She had a deep love for music and was known for her beautiful singing voice, which brought joy to those around her. Marla also found comfort and pride in keeping things clean and in order, a reflection of her caring and attentive nature.

She cherished time spent with her family, especially when it came to playing cards and sharing laughter together. In more recent years, she especially enjoyed playing Phase 10 and Yahtzee, creating countless memories filled with fun and friendly competition.

Marla had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit. She was quick to tease with her signature phrase, calling someone "Liver Lips," often followed by her unforgettable, infectious laugh. That laughter lit up every room and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marla leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments that will forever live in our hearts.

Vickie Lynn Lafollette, 61 of East Fultonham Ohio, passed away on 3/16/26 at 5:19pm surrounded by her family, at Genesis Hospital.

Born on November 14, 1964, to Linda Lafollette and Ronnie Lafollette. Vickie was known for her fun loving and giving spirit, she spent all her free time doing special things for her children and grandchildren. She loved crafting and often handmade, priceless gifts for her family at Christmas time. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the personalized ornaments she made them each year. She loved painting, thrift shopping, and antiquing. She had a huge heart for animals; her dog, Kai, accompanied her everywhere she went.

Vickie's vibrant personality was the heartbeat of every gathering. Her smile lit up the room, and her laugh brightened the darkest of days. Vickie never met a stranger; she made a new friend everywhere she went and will be remembered, by many, for her willingness to help anyone in need.

Vickie was proceeded in death by Linda Lafollette (mother), Ronnie Lafollette (father), Pam Lafollette (sister), and Corey Lafollette (brother).

She is survived by Martha Lafollette (sister), Ronnie Lafollette (brother), Donnie Lafollette (brother), her 3 children Jarrett (Alyssa) Lafollette, Jeff Porter, Jessica (Allen) Brown, her 9 Grandchildren, Brissa, Jacie, Ashlynn, Olivia, Trace, Jaden, Liberty, Brady and Toby, 11 Great Grandchildren, step mother, Marsha Lafollette and two stepbrothers, Justin and Jaren and several nieces and nephews.

Patti L. Morrison, 68, of Zanesville, OH, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Genesis Hospital surrounded by family.

She was born in Zanesville, June 3, 1957 the daughter of the late Norman E. and Betty E. Chalfant. For 10+ years she was an Electrical Customer Service representative at Lowes.

She is survived by her three children, Steven Morrison ll, Chad Morrison, and Tabitha Morrison all of Zanesville; grandchildren, Logan Morrison, Laykan Morrison, Jaylan Morrison, Alexis Morrison, and Steven “Sam” Morrison lll, Rozlyn Cronin, Melinda Cronin, Hunter Jackson, Jazzlyn Broomfield, Olivia Cronin, Arielynn Cronin and Dominic Cronin; 5 great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Ka’Moni, Ky’El, Abrielle, and Aeriyon; sisters, Cheryl Trusler, Beverly Terrill, and Candice Ciufo.

In addition to her parents, Patti is preceded in death by her brothers, Walter “Eddie” and Ronnie; sisters Betty Eileen and Norma Ford; and special friends Mike Hartshorn and Melvin “Monk” Stephenson

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of a devoted mother, aunt, sister, and beloved family member. Pamela Sue Mayle, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 unexpectedly at her home. Her life was defined by her kindness, strength, and the unconditional love she shared with those closest to her. Pamela was a loving and dedicated mother whose greatest joy in life was her only child Cody Mayle. She loved God and her family deeply. Her heart was especially full when it came to her great-niece, Aaliyah Hoover and great-nephew,Jayden Hoover, whom she cared for and loved as if they were her own grandchildren. She took great pride in being part of their lives, offering guidance, comfort, and laughter that they will carry with them forever.

She had a caring nature that made everyone around her feel welcome and loved. Whether through her words of encouragement, her warm smile, or simply being there when someone needed her most, she touched the lives and hearts of many.

As she joins her dearly departed father, Carlos Leroy Mayle and mother, Marlene May Mayle. She is survived by her son, Cody Mayle and partner Taylor Wickham; her brother, Terry Mayle, Sr; her two sisters, Christy Mayle and Tammy (David) Gill; along with 3 nieces, 7 nephews and many extended family members and loved ones who will cherish her always.

Her love, unique personality, and most of all the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Evelyn Jeanette Ramey was born in Bern Township, Athens County, Ohio on June 27, 1936, to Nora Leona (Lewis) Fischer and John Rodney Fischer. In 1954, Jeanette graduated from Lash High School in Zanesville, Ohio, where she excelled in athletics. In 1951, she was a member of the Hawkeyes softball team that rallied in the Girls City League, and she was also employed as a cashier and certified lifeguard at the segregated Inkwell pool and the municipal swimming pool.

On August 6, 1955, Jeanette married Virgil Paul Ramey. To this union, three children were born--Patsy Ann, Eugene Paul, and Virgil Lee. In her own words, "this was the most wonderful and interesting time of my life, raising three children." As a Christian believer, she created a safe haven for her children and grandchildren and extended a warm embrace to welcome neighborhood friends and animals in need of respite. Jeanette knew that laughter, games, music, dance, and good food could drive out the darkness and light up any atmosphere! She looked forward to attending the annual Lewis family reunion, and fellowship with kin folks sparked her interest in genealogy research.

In 1959, Jeanette went to work at RCA in Cambridge, Ohio before joining the assembly line and transferring to Quality Control Coordinator at United Technologies in Zanesville. She retired in 1995 after completing 33 years of service. Away from the job, she loved to read, plant flowers, and travel, both domestically and internationally.

Jeanette transitioned from this life on March 8, 2026. She is preceded in death by her son, Eugene Ramey; parents, John and Leona (Lewis) Fischer; two sisters, Patsy Ann Fischer and Betty (Fischer) Sowel.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Ann (Ramey) McDonald and son, Virgil Lee Ramey, both of Zanesville; three brothers, Everette (Buddy) Fischer of Zanesville, Leon (Butch) Fischer of Dayton, and John, Jr. (Punk) Fischer of Columbus; six grandchildren, Sheree Dunn, Jaymin McDonald, Jarrod McDonald, Jordan McDonald, Anna McDonald, and Katlyn Norman; three great grandchildren, Rylee Washington, Brooklyn Dunn, and Jaymin Andre McDonald, as well as a host of precious relatives and friends.

Darlene Fisher, 83, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home. Darlene was born in Corning, Ohio, daughter of the late Thelma (Mayle) and Harry Fisher. In addition to her parents, Darlene is also preceded in death by her brothers, Daina, Bill, Ken and
Geb Fisher; sister, Dorla; and her sons, Robert Norris and Harold Norris, Jr.

Darlene had dedicated her time as an employee of both the county home and Essex Wire over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and watching her favorite programs, Reba and the Kelly Clarkson Show. Darlene was an excellent cook who loved to prepare meals for her family. She was a music lover with a particular affinity for Elvis Presley. Darlene was dedicated to her family, of which she was the rock. She was a strong, beautiful woman both inside and out. Her Earthly presence will be deeply missed.

Shawn Michael Penrod, 38, of Crooksville Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Shawn was born on June 23, 1987, to Doug and Linda Penrod. In addition to his parents, Shawn is also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dane Penrod.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Amanda L. Penrod; children, Klaira, Kendall, Korah and Kailyn Penrod; brother, Doug Jr. (Crystal) Penrod; nieces and nephews, Gracie, Summer, Kevin, Jada, Mercedese, Amelia, Robert, Braxton and Christopher; lifelong best friend, Danny Cox; brother in law, Martin Jr. (Whitney) Angler; father in law, Martin Sr, (Christy) Angler; mother in law, Patricia (Brian) Madinger; as well as several other friends and family.

Shawn enjoyed everything outdoors from riding his dirt bikes/four wheelers to hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved his family, especially his girls who were his world. He was the best dad a kid could ask for. Shawn and his wife spent 16 years together creating a lot of beautiful memories; enjoying all the ups and downs together. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Memorial honoring will be held in Shawn’s honor on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 1pm - 3pm at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
