Shields, formly Ashley Lynn is a 2001 graduate from West Muskingum High School. After high school Dr. Shields moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University where she earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Nutrition. She then attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she earned her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2012. Dr. Sheilds completed several interships including those at the Nova Eye Care Clinic with advanced diseases, contact lenses, pediatric, and primary eye care. She also completed two externships with The Groups of Ophthalmologists at Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute and Eye Centers of South Florida. Dr. Shields recently returned to the Zanesville area and married her high school sweetheart Jody Shields. In Dr. Shields spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, travelling, and watching movies. DR. KELLY RYEN

Dr. Kelly Ryen is a 1996 graduate and Valedictorian of her class at Pickerington High School. She did her undergraduate studies in Biology at Kent State University in Kent, OH. She then attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry and graduated Cum Laude in 2003 with her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Ryen has practiced in a number of different optometric settings during her optometry career. She also spent time in contact lens research. She was a co-investigator on contact lens compatibility with different contact lens solutions and the affect on the cornea and was published for her work. She joined Sunrise Vision Clinic in February 2015 and became co owner of the new Zanesville Vision Care in January 2016. Dr. Ryen is currently accepting new patients. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages. Dr. Ryen enjoys fitting contact lenses, managing glaucoma and macular degeneration and pediatrics. Dr. Ryen is member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association. She belonged to Epsilon Psi Epsilon and Golden Key Society while in Optometry School. Dr. Ryen enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include exercise, traveling, crafting, baking and reading. SCALLEY

Dr. Scalley grew up in a small town on the Ohio River called Toronto. She graduated from Toronto High School in 2002 as Valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend Otterbein College, a small liberal arts school in Westerville Ohio, just outside of Columbus. She graduated from Otterbein with honors in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Life Science. She then went on to study optometry at Ohio State University and received her Doctor of Optometry Degree in June 2011. Dr. Scalley joined Sunrise Vision Clinic in July 2011. Dr. Scalley is currently welcoming patients of all ages. She works with patients who have glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and keratoconus, as well as many other eye conditions. She also enjoys fitting patients into different types of contact lenses, including those for astigmatism and for patients who need bifocals. Dr. Scalley moved to Zanesville in July of 2012 after living in the Columbus area for nine years. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, knitting and crocheting, traveling, and playing with her three dogs, a Boston Terrier, and two Siberian Huskies. Dr. Scalley is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She belonged to the Theta Nu sorority at Otterbein as well as the Epsilon Psi Epsilon fraternity at Ohio State.

Due to the weather, we will open at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 16.

We want to be cautious to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. We will update the afternoon hours accordingly.

Our office will re-open to non urgent care on May 4, 2020. We will be following recommendations from both the AOA and CDC to keep our staff and patients safe. Our office will implement social distance as much as possible so we ask that you come to your exam alone. Minors may have an accompanying parent or guardian. Our staff will be complying with wearing face masks, and we have installed additional safe guards and increase in sterilization to keep everyone safe.
Exam check in and our procedures as well as contact lens and spectacle dispensing have changed for the time being. We will educate everyone over the phone when making their appointments of our "new normal" protocol. If you have questions feel free to contact the office. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Due to CDC recommendations Zanesville Vision Care will continue to be closed for routine vision care. If this changes, we will notify any patients that will be affected. Our doctors will still be available for emergency medical eye care if the need arises.
If you are running out of contacts lenses, our doctors will be happy to extend your prescription up to 6 months. Please call our office to order.
We will be available for limited curbside pickup of glasses/contact lenses during the week 9 am-1 pm. Please call the office to schedule a pick-up time. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time. We look forward to continue serving you in any way we can.

The CDC has recommended postponing all routine eye exams at this time due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In order to comply with the CDC guidelines, starting Monday, March 23rd we are postponing any routine eye exams through April 3rd. If this changes, we will notify any patients that will be affected. Our doctors will still be available for emergency medical eye care if the need arises.

If you are running out of contacts lenses, our doctors will be happy to extend your prescription up to 6 months. Please call our office to order.
