🌸Spring break is coming up! It is a great time to relax and enjoy connection time with your family, yet it can also be dysregulating for some of our kids due to changes in routine. It is important to keep some structure in place to help kids stay regulated and make the most of this week together! Some OT approved strategies:
✅ Keep the Sleep Routine Consistent: same wake/sleep times when possible
✅ Create a Visual Schedule: Help your child know what to expect each day with a simple visual schedule. This reduces anxiety and keeps transitions smoother!
✅Schedule Daily Movement Breaks: Playgrounds, walks, swimming, or any physical activity is key to regulating energy and emotions
✅Build in Calm Time after Busy: While movement and activities can be great, too much scheduled activities may feel overwhelming. It is important to schedule some family connection and calm time throughout the day.
✅Practice OT Home Exercises: This week is a great time to practice the exercises your therapist has given you! Reach out to your occupational or speech therapist for questions or suggestions.
We are here to help and will be open during spring break, but please let us know if you plan to take the week off 🌸
