Hello St Croix! Early this morning our critical care team was tasked with an emergency transfer from Schneider Regional Medical Center to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center. Just 46 minutes later and our patient is in the right place!

We are grateful for the generosity of the North Caribbean Conference Council of Seventh-Day Adventist Churches, who partnered with ’s Mother-Baby & Children’s Services Unit for their annual donation drive.

In their first donation, they provided essential items for our newborns, including receiving blankets, socks, sleepers, sterilization bags, hats, baby bottles, pacifiers, and thermometer probes.

Your kindness and commitment help us provide the best possible care for our youngest patients and their families. Thank you for making a meaningful difference in our community.💙

ODR and JFL Execute Contract for New Hospital Construction on St. Croix

The Virgin Islands Office of Disaster Recovery (ODR) has executed a contract for the demolition and reconstruction of the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center(JFL).

The contract awarded to Suffolk Construction signals the start of the preconstruction phase valued at $3.4M.

ODR Director Adrienne L. Williams-Octalien stated, “Rebuilding the territory’s hospitals remains one of the highest priorities of the recovery, and the ex*****on of this contract signifies a pivotal step forward in this effort.”

The new JFL will be designed as a multi-story, resilient, energy-efficient, and renewable-energy-conscious facility. Inside, the hospital will offer a comprehensive range of medical services, including but not limited to trauma care, NICU, behavioral health, women’s services, diagnostic services, and rehabilitation.

“This project centers on the patients, families, and healthcare professionals who depend on a safe, advanced environment to provide and receive high-quality care. We are proud to move forward in partnership with Suffolk Construction to strengthen and sustain healthcare services for current and future generations,” said Darlene A. Baptiste, Chief Executive Officer of JFL. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority, the Office of Disaster Recovery, and the Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team (THRT) for their leadership, collaboration, and steadfast support throughout this process. Their guidance and coordination have been critical in advancing this transformative healthcare redevelopment project.”

Painkillers dominating the Drip or Drench event at the 2026 Battle of the Agencies!

Painkillers came ready for action at the 2026 Battle of the Agencies! We placed 4th overall and took 1st place in both the Three-Legged Race and Drip or Drench events, earning a spot in the final obstacle course. While we didn’t come out on top in the end, we are beyond proud of our team’s commitment, tenacity, competitive spirit, and unity. For us, that was the real victory!

Congratulations to the winning team, and a heartfelt thank you to the Division of Personnel USVI and Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation for your continued efforts in making this event such a success every year.

The Painkillers are back and in full effect, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
