March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

On Monday, March 2nd, Dr. Neveta Sutherland Vacciana joined Talking Points to discuss endometriosis and its impact on women, including teenagers. Throughout the month, we will be sharing key insights to raise awareness and promote understanding.

The BVIHSA encourages women across the Virgin Islands to prioritise their health and seek medical advice if they experience severe pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, or persistent discomfort.

To support Endometriosis Awareness Month, we invite you to wear yellow on Friday, March 27th (in lieu of March 28th) as we stand together to raise awareness.

Early detection and appropriate care can make a difference.

❤️ Matters of the Heart: A Day of Impactful Conversations & Learning ❤️

BVIHSA, in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of the Virgin Islands, successfully hosted the Matters of the Heart Cardiovascular Symposium on Saturday, February 7th 2026.

The day began with an engaging Matters of the Heart panel discussion at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, bringing together healthcare professionals and partners for meaningful dialogue on cardiovascular health. The symposium concluded with the “Listen to Your Heart” CME session at Maria’s by the Sea, providing valuable education and insights for medical practitioners.

Together, we continue to strengthen awareness, education, and action around heart health in the Virgin Islands — because only excellence counts.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), with hypertension identified as the primary risk factor. Contributing conditions such as obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes further elevate cardiovascular risk across the population.

In recognition of Heart Health month, the general public is invited to join us for a Cardiovascular Symposium (panel discussion) at the Dr. D Olando Smith Hospital this Saturday!

Additionally, clinicians are invited to take advantage of the CME opportunity at the Matters of the Heart Cardiovascular CME at Marias by the Sea.
