Your enamel isn’t dead. It’s dynamic.

Teeth are constantly losing and gaining minerals. The problem isn’t just bacteria - it’s whether your body has the nutrients to rebuild what’s lost.

Remineralization depends on:

• Calcium
• Phosphorus
• Vitamin D
• Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, K2)
• Proper saliva flow

This is why holistic dentistry looks at nutrition first - not just fillings.

You can’t out-brush a mineral deficiency.

Which of these foods do you already eat regularly? 👇🦷

Sparkling water isn’t the villain. But it’s not “just water” either.

Carbonation makes it acidic and acid pulls minerals from your enamel. Over time, that can soften teeth and increase cavity risk.

Here’s the part most people miss:

👉 It’s not about having one.
👉 It’s about sipping it all day.

When your teeth are constantly exposed to acid, they don’t get a chance to remineralize.

So what’s the move?

✔️ Drink it quickly, not slowly over hours
✔️ Don’t use it as your main water source
✔️ Think of it as a treat, not a replacement

Your enamel needs recovery time.

Do you sip sparkling water all day? 👀🦷

Most people think cavities just “happen.” But as a holistic dentist, I can tell you, they don’t.

Your mouth is not separate from your body. It reflects your breathing patterns, your mineral status, your stress levels, your diet… and even your nervous system.

From mouth breathing and mineral deficiencies to ignoring bleeding gums and grinding at night - these are the patterns I see over and over again.

And the good news? Most of them are completely reversible when you address the root cause.

Which one surprised you the most? 👇

Underrated vs. overrated in oral health 👀

Which one surprised you? 👇🦷

Okay… here it is.

Your bleeding gums are inflammation. They’re not “normal.”

Mouth breathing is quietly damaging your teeth and airway.

Whitening your teeth won’t fix the root cause of staining.

Grinding isn’t just stress, it’s a nervous system and airway issue.

Cavities are rarely just “bad genetics.”

If your tongue is coated and you’re not cleaning it… bacteria are thriving.

Mineral deficiencies show up in your enamel.

Dry mouth is a red flag, not a minor inconvenience.

Flossing the week before your appointment doesn’t undo months of neglect.

Your mouth is not separate from your body.

Your symptoms are signals and your body is always communicating!

If this made you a little uncomfortable… good. That means it’s time to look deeper.

Everybody knows Roundup kills plants.

What most people don’t realize is that some mouthwashes work the same way.

Not because they’re the same chemical, but because they’re broad-spectrum killers.

They don’t just kill “bad” bacteria. They wipe out everything, including the bacteria that protect your mouth, support your immune system, and help prevent disease.

A sterile mouth is not a healthy mouth.

Health isn’t created by scorched-earth tactics.

Just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s supportive of oral health.

Some ingredients strip the mouth of the bacteria and balance it needs to stay healthy.

As a biological dentist, these are ingredients I personally avoid - and why.

Save this for later 🦷

If your mouth care only focuses on “clean,”
you’re missing what actually keeps it healthy.

Sometimes I think the way studies are presented in the media does more harm than good.

And yes… sometimes I even see it happening among dentists.

Please don’t throw out your xylitol toothpaste because of one very small study being taken out of context.

Xylitol remains an incredibly valuable tool in cavity prevention.
It’s naturally produced by the human body, and that endogenous form is what this particular study focused on — not toothpaste, gums, or oral care use in real-world conditions.

If you’re personally sensitive to it, or if pets are a concern in your home, that’s a different conversation.

But for most people, xylitol is still a safe and helpful part of oral care.

Curious what you think — is this thoughtful discussion… or fear-based interpretation?

Oral health doesn’t start when all the teeth come in.
It starts with the first one. 👶🦷

Early habits shape more than smiles -
they impact breathing, jaw growth, and lifelong health.

If you’re a parent, this is one to save.
Future you will be glad you did. 💛
