The stomach — a J-shaped organ tucked just below the diaphragm on the left side — plays a huge role in our digestive system. It usually measures around 15 cm wide and 30 cm long, and although size varies from person to person (and before/after meals!), it can hold up to 1 litre of food.
In reflexology, the stomach reflex is located between the diaphragm line and the waistline on both feet (and the hands) — as shown in the image.
Sometimes this reflex area may feel tender or out of balance. This can be linked to current or past digestive tension, or even lifestyle factors such as alcohol irritation or the effects of certain medications.
And it’s not just physical influences — the stomach is highly responsive to emotions too. Think of the butterflies you feel during stress, or those situations that are quite literally “hard to stomach.”
Reflexology helps support relaxation and encourages balance throughout the digestive system, both emotionally and physically.
