BRG update
Hi y’all, thank you so much to everyone who weighed in on my poll yesterday. I put it on this account and also my personal account, and all the input helped clarify two main points. One, this is a service that people do want, and twice a month sounds good to them. It sounds great to me too. And two…
Two is that I am overloaded and cannot output enough to run even a once a month group, let alone a twice a month. And I should take care of my current pressing issues, hopefully settle into this new life and chapter (parenting), and reevaluate in a few months how many spoons I can offer to BRG.
I always hope that when I cancel, step back, or pause, I’m modelling and encouraging not pushing yourself. Getting to know and honouring your limits. Rest rest rest.
So, group is paused for the foreseeable future. I hope to check in from time to time and even post some content. I at the very least will keep sharing other great recovery offerings/services and content in this account’s stories.
My DM’s are still open and checked regularly, so if you’re struggling and want to chat or be pointed toward resources, please still feel free to message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Much love,
πŸ’šRegan

Hit 10k listens! This is the (one and only lol) BRG guided meditation on the InsightTimer app (which btw I highly recommend, tons and tons of free meditations). Have very much wanted to do more but haven’t had the spoons.
This guided body scan was the amalgamation of all the body scans I’d personally liked best that I’d heard. I was going through a very rough time when I made this, this was the scan I would do for myself all the time.
The audio isn’t great. And I know the intro is long and cumbersome, personally I like a long intro because I’m so distracted for the first few minutes of anything, it feels like it gives me permission to be distracted and take that time to settle in.
These are my favorite reviews on it. I cry every time I read the ones about people feeling safe in their bodies. 😭
Anyway have a listen if you’re interested! InsightTimer is a free app, I have it on iphone, I assume it’s on android too. You create an account and you can enjoy seeing how many minutes and milestones you can rack up. 😊
PS the pic is of yours truly, taken my friend and talented bo***ir photographer , in a photo shoot devoted to being loving and gentle to my body, which I thought would be perfect for this.

Saw this post shared by a large account which prompted to reread it and realize how little I’ve really shared about how my philosophy has evolved in the last couple of years.
I have now fully left the cult of wellness and have been doing acute deprogramming work for the last I think two years. This old post shows how I was still partly in it, though I think I had one foot out the door for a while.
I knew that anti-eugenics is the new direction I wanted to take BRG when I did my little β€œrebrand,” but even though I knew BRG was founded in some white wellness stuff, I still didn’t really think about how some content would still carry some of that.
I often want to start this account from scratch again lol
For now let me say these things:
🌿your body is not a problem to be fixed
🌿if you have privileges you absolutely probably have thoughts and behaviors that DO need to be fixed
🌿eating disorders are diseases, not choices
🌿we need to do so so so much more community care and that includes fighting for just treatment and a safe world for EVERYONE
🌿so VOTE and get V@CCINATED (if it’s accessible) and if you don’t like that I said that, message me and I’ll totally talk about it with you

[A screenshot of my own updated caption under an orange post, the last line of which is visible and reads, β€œReclaiming Health.” The caption update says, β€œUPDATE: Oo boy this makes is sound like I believe western medicine has NOTHING good and that is NOT true. Western medicine has so much knowledge and so many strengths. Wester medicine AND holistic health have BOTH been hijacked by white, eugenicist, purify/perfect the individual body s**t, and THAT’S what Body Recovery is against.”]

February’s group was disrupted by our cyclone, and March’s normal time (2nd Sunday of the month) can’t work because I had to schedule a medical appointment around the same time.
SO I’ll be running a group next week!

This sounds less profound now that I’ve written it down lol
Anyway this has been in my head for a few days, and I thought it was extra fitting for something like a new year’s.
This is a helpful daily reminder for someone like me who has very little confidence in my abilities, and who is facing life challenges that seem beyond those abilities. There’s a lot of ways to try to trick myself to feel more confident, but I feel like I can think my way out of most of them. My ability to believe the absolute worst of myself is pretty strong.
This, however, is Regan-proof lol the fact that every today has a different yesterday is absolutely irrefutable, which means every day has the potential to be different than any before. And perhaps it can be a little bit better.
Maybe I can be a little bit kinder.
Maybe my recovery can be a little bit stronger.
Maybe my grief will be a little less painful.
Ground your hope in something tangible and irrefutable. That way it can survive doubt and fear and even genuine failure.
I wish you all a little extra hope in this year that will inevitably be different than any year before, and that maybe could be a little bit better.

The Body Recovery Group

The Body Recovery Group is a facilitated peer support group for anyone healing their relationship with food, body, and/or exercise. This is meant as a supplemental tool for anyone recovering from any of the following: eating disorders; disordered eating; compulsive eating, exercising, or dieting; weight stigma; body prejudice; lack of access; or simply not feeling very connected to food, body, or exercise. In this group, we reclaim our bodies and recover the trust that they know how to take care of themselves.

This group is not a replacement for a treatment program; the facilitator is not a clinician; and we cannot give any medical direction for health conditions such as active eating disorders, food allergies, auto-immune diseases, etc. If the facilitator feels someone needs more support than this group can provide, or may require medical intervention, they reserve the right to speak to them about this outside of group and will do their best to help connect them to other services. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any organization or treatment program; however, other organizations, individuals, and research will be referenced.

The Body Recovery Group is dedicated to reclaiming and recovering our bodies from internal and external trauma, ranging from negative self-talk and fatphobia all the way to patriarchy and colonialism. It is essential to address and challenge all these layers as we heal our relationships with food, body, and exercise. This is a space that is anti-diet culture and anti-fatphobia. We can provide resources to connect you to the research behind these statements, but in this space, these topics are not up for debate. Any feelings or fears they may bring up for you are very welcome.

This group is all about asking ourselves the following questions: How would you feel about food, body, and exercise if there were zero outside influences telling you which ones are better than others? What if there weren’t any industries profiting off these beliefs? What if the medical system had no outside influencesβ€”such as lobbying, research funding, or corporate bonuses? What if you were born into eras, cultures, or families that celebrated different body shapes? What if we saw more people who looked like us in advertisements, magazines, movies, music videos, gyms, businesses, even political office? What if we had been taught that we can trust, celebrate, and love our bodies just as they are?
