We wanted to honor Dr. Roberto Rodriguez (Cintli) and all of the contributions he's given to our community. Cintli’s ideologies centered around his experiences with police brutality and his research around the migration of maiz. Not only were his writings fundamental through out the decades for indigenous/Chicano folks but he was in often directly involved in supporting community struggles and activism, especially here in Tucson. Cintli stated "If you want to know who you are and where you come from, follow the maiz." We were fortunate enough to work closely with Cintli and he will be missed deeply. We are committed to furthering our knowledge and honor him throughout our journey and fight for social justice and wellness.

Topohual: “Our Story”

“La cultura cura”.

Our program goals are based on the premise that changes at the community level with culturally responsive education and prevention services will lead to holistic wellness. The Nahui Ollin represents the cyclical movement of nature with respect to the four directions. The word “Nahui Ollin” comes from the Nahuatl language- nahui means four and ollin means movement. It is a fundamental concept in Nahua cosmology and a guide for everyday life and decisions. Our programming includes the following components:

*School based workshops that include indigenous knowledge, social justice, mental health, harm reduction, healthy relationships and leadership development topics.

*Annual Xinachtli Youth Leadership Conference
