Hello and a happy weekend to you all. I hope this finds you in good health.

It has been a while since I posted, but hopefully in 2026 I will be more consistent, after 18 months of stepping back from my practice.

It has been a wonderfully busy time. Being part of a project with FNHC was an honour. Working with amazingly inspirational people, kept me quite busy, challenged me and delighted me in equal measure. The team receiving an award, recognizing the project, was the cherry on top. FNHC do some amazing work in the community.

We moved house in October, we are now settled into a delightful little cottage. I do have rather a lot of books, so there was quite a lot of heavy lifting.

Below is a watercolour painting I did a couple of weeks ago under the tuition of Julia Renault, a local artist. Alongside this, I have been doing some pottery classes, life-drawing course and taken up dancing.

Working hard is fine, especially if you enjoy your work, but balancing that out with relaxing hobbies is, I believe, essential. This doesn't have to be formal classes and you don't have to be creative but it is good to find something that you enjoy, whatever that may be.

The main reason for this post it to let those who have recently been in contact, that we are currently working on updating my website and working on my schedule, a few appointment slots will be available for early 2026. I am looking forward to seeing old clients and new.

During the time I took a step back, I also did some studying and gained a Professional Diploma in the Fundamentals of Anatomy, Pathophysiology and Lifestyle Medicine with The Health Science Academy and a Certification in Integrative Immunopathology with the CMA. I believe it is important to expand my knowledge consistently, to provide a better service for my clients and to deal with my own health.

Let me take this opportunity to you wish you and your loved ones a very happy festive time.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy.

The past year has been very busy. I have worked alongside some really inspirational people, all of whom are as passionate as me about supporting families with healthy lifestyle choices.

Last Sunday FNHC, Health Improvement Team celebrated coming third at the Jersey Charity Awards. Our team lead Julia, was nominated by one of the parents who benefited from the course we ran.

It was a wonderful event held at Government House. The marquee was full of amazing people, doing great work, supporting others.

It was a priviledge to work with families and I am very grateful to have been a part of it.

Now, it is time to get back to doing more of what I love and focusing on my clients. More news on that will follow soon. Firstly, I am moving to a new home, which is all very exciting.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy.

🎉 FNHC Celebrates Success at the Jersey Charity Awards! 🎉

We are thrilled to share that FNHC's Childhood Health Improvement Pilot Project (CHIPP), funded by the Jersey Community Foundation, was recognised at the Jersey Charity Awards last Sunday!

CHIPP is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at tackling childhood obesity and health inequalities in Jersey. As part of this work, FNHC introduced the evidence-based HENRY (Health, Exercise, and Nutrition for the Really Young) programme to support parents of children aged 0–12 in making sustainable, healthy lifestyle changes.

We are incredibly proud that the HENRY Programme team was awarded 3rd place in the Outstanding Achievement Award for Large Charities. 🎖️

A huge thank you to everyone involved — this recognition is a testament to your passion, hard work, and dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of children and families across Jersey.

Many thanks to the Association of Jersey Charities for a lovely afternoon 🫶🫶

For decades, the appendix was dismissed as a pointless evolutionary leftover, often removed without hesitation. But new research from Duke University reveals it’s anything but useless. The appendix contains more than 200 million neurons, exceeding those in the spinal cord, and plays a crucial role in the gut-brain connection. Acting as a reservoir for beneficial bacteria, it helps restore the microbiome after illness while also regulating immune responses. Scientists now suspect it functions like a “second brain” in the gut, directly communicating with the nervous system. With this growing evidence, some hospitals are reconsidering routine removal in mild cases, recognizing the appendix as a vital guardian of digestive and immune health.

Happy new month everyone.

We have been blessed with some beautiful weather here in Jersey recently, which is wonderful.

May will be a month when I seriously up my self-care. How about you?

If you have been struggling with health battles lately, I hope things improve for you very soon. Remember to make the changes necessary to be the healthiest version of you.

There are so many hidden health issues that people suffer through, whilst trying to juggle the needs of everyone around them. When going through a health setback, it can be challenging not to put yourself under pressure to bounce back. It is important to know when to stop and rest, listen your body and heal in whichever way works for you. Listen to your body when it whispers, otherwise the whispers will turn into roars.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy.

A chapter has come to an end, which makes space for new beginnings.

As some of you know, I have been rather busy this past year preparing for and navigating through a pilot project at Family Nursing & Home Care. I had the great priviledge to work alongside Dr Urszula Silwka (Ula) from Public Health Jersey and Julia Webster, School Nurse from FNHC. This proved to be a small but powerful team.

It has been intense, challenging at times, but an ultimately positive and rewarding experience and has only renewed my passion for all things healthy lifestyle.

Ula & Julia started the project 15 months ago, I jumped on board middle of last year having been recruited as Health Improvement Assistant at FNHC.

Now that this stage has come to an end, I will be getting back to my own work at Rainbow Healing Health & Wellbeing.

Firstly, I will be taking a much needed break over Easter. After which I will start opening up a limited number of slots to ease myself back into practice.

My gratitude to FNHC for the opportunity, to Ula for her generous sharing of knowledge and experience, and to Julia who is a very kind and compassionate individual who worked tirelessly to hold everything together.

Until then, stay healthy, stay happy.

A BIG THANK YOU.

Warning - This is a really long post. Not my usual short one liners.

Those of you who know me, or follow me on social media, may have noticed that I been a little quiet recently. As mentioned a couple of months ago, I had a health issue that needed addressing.

I have been very fortunate to be super healthy until very recently, and at 61 to have not seen my GP (apart from 5 yearly checks) in decades has been wonderful.

Firstly, would like to thank my wonderful GP Dr Overton (he is now my GP as mine retired at some point) who referred me promptly when I said something was a bit off. He was kind and supportive and for that I am very grateful. He could have fobbed me off, but he didn't.

On Monday I went for a procedure to investigate what the issue was. I can only say that the Jersey General Hospital, Aubin Ward, Dr Duku and his team were incredible. The ward was spotless, I was welcomed by everyone in a supportive and friendly manner. I was a little afraid as I have not needed a hospital since I gave birth to my last child 25 years ago. I am so grateful to all of the staff on the ward. I wish I could remember all their names, but no food for 30 hours and being nervous, my brain didn't take them all in, Hopefully, they will know who they are. Their kindness and professionalism was ten out of ten. We hear so many negative tales, but that was not my experience. (I did not go private for those wondering.)

Next to me was a really wonderful earth angel, a beautiful lady of 81 years young. We chatted, she was so lovely, looking very smart, unlike me in my Uggs. She went ahead of me and came back smiling, all was well for her and I was delighted. We chatted about healthy lifestyle, which she clearly lived by, and it showed in her beautiful skin, smiling face and bright eyes. I really wish I had got her name, but I am so grateful to have met her for that short time as I felt much less apprehensive when my turn came quickly after.

The caring nature and professionalism of the theatre staff was brilliant. It was very interesting for me to see the issue on screen and to have a conversation about everything I was looking at. The one thing I had not considered was an autoimmune issue. Good heavens! It could have been far worse, but I was a little annoyed with my body for attacking itself.

When originally I became aware of the health issue, I had just received news that I had been granted a scholarship from Vanessa Kimbell's Sourdough school. I was over the moon, dream come true. I was doing a job I loved with the Health Improvement Team at FNHC, seeing a few clients and studying with The Health Science Academy, along with finishing my Culinary Medicine final.

I immediately took action, turning down the scholarship, boy was I gutted about that, stopped studying, changed my work hours.... alas, the horse had already left the stable at this point!

Sometimes the universe decides to humble us. I am grateful every minute of everyday for my health, my beautiful family, work I love, and so forth. I do look after myself very well, however, we lost 3 close family members in 3 months last year, which was devastating, I have felt a little sad since. My darling dad is becoming increasingly fragile, as are my step-parents, so a bunch of emotions going on there. Work had the odd tension, which I should have raised earlier, but it didn't seem worth making a fuss about. My youngest also left home, a good thing of course, but it is sad for us parents when the children fly the nest.

The body holds the score as we know, so it really isn't so much of a surprise, that my body might decide to rebel, even if my mind was powering ahead. Yes, I know, the irony! My private practice is about mind-body, emotions impacting on the physical health. I know, I know!

Frustrating, yes, but not such a bad thing as I became my own science project and it has been interesting to go through all of this and learning even more. The positive side is, I know my body very well. Even though I didn't think of autoimmune, I knew the other suggestions didn't feel right. All the pieces fell into place the second I heard the diagnosis.

It is so important for us all to be aware of what is normal for us. Know you body, treat it well. It may struggle at times, but I still firmly believe living a healthy lifestyle is worth it. I doubt I would have been so healthy all this time if I hadn't. On reflection, I had a minor flare in my mid-twenties, which was mis-diagnosed and a flare in my mid-thirties, which led to me creating Rainbow Healing.

I walk my talk.

You also find out who really cares.

I am enormously grateful to my workmate Abi, who has debated, discussed, disagreed with and laughed hysterically through the last two months, not that she had much choice! Thankfully, I am back sharing an office with her and feeling much happier. She tolerates all my quirks. No drafts, must have fresh air, radio on and so forth.

Every day we have the choice about how we wish to live our life. Sometimes, we have to make choices to slow down. Not everything has to be done now. I think losing family members, two of which went too soon, might have made me shift up a gear and I went too fast for a while.

I hope to join the Sourdough School at a later date. If it meant to be it will happen.

Now that we know what it is, hopefully, treatment will settle things down.

Thank you to all the medical professionals. We need to stay as healthy as we can, so that they treat the stuff we can't.

Take care of yourselves and each other.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy. 😉

Happy Sunday.

I hope this finds you well.

This week I thought I would give you a day in the life of our family.

Starting the day with a lie in, bliss! A slow breakfast, eaten mindfully. Not rushing food and chewing well, really helps digestion. Slow down when you can.

Baking followed, the weather outside was lovely and blustery, plus I had some overripe bananas that needed using.

Having visited the library this week, I started a new autobiography. (I finished Oliver Sacks last week. If you are at all interested in his works, read his autobiography, it is brilliant.) Danny Trejo, wow, what an interesting life he had and I am only quarter way in!

Those who know me, will know I read several books at the same time. I know, weird, what can I say.

Reading different books at breakfast time, or lunchbreaks at work, when in the office or bedtime reading, I enjoy different genres. From autobiographies, academic books, WW2 novels or books on crystals, variety works for me and my monkey mind.

Exercise. Today, it was just a short burst of weights and stretches. Headstands, strengthening the core. Doing chores certainly got my step count up, not that I ever count steps.

Spending time with my grandchildren, while my daughter visited my father in hospital was a treat. They are beautiful children and I love hearing about the things they have been up to. We read stories, built Lego and ate the cakes I made earlier. Catching up with family is always welcome.

On Sunday I tend to roast a chicken to prepare for a few meals early in the week too. When things get busy, it is nice to have a plan for the week's meals. Tonight we roasted a selection of vegetables to have with it.

I also make a bone broth for soup during the week. It is packed with garlic, onion, celery, turmeric, bay leaves, pepper corns, chicken carcass of course, carrots and red cabbage on this occasion. Broth is so healing for the gut and a real immune booster. Liquid gold, is how I refer to it with the kids.

Along with doing chores, Sunday rushes by. Thankfully, with careful planning I got to watch Strictly live.

Time to slow down and relax with a nice hot bath.

Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy.

SELF-CARE SATURDAY

Today started with an alarm clock free start, a nice cup of tea, some warm water, and some reading.

I followed this with a treatment for myself on the Asyra/Qest.

As picture indicates, today I added a Wild Oat Bach flower remedy to my imprint and after my breakfast took some Acidophilus (probiotics to support gut health) Vitamin B-Complex, a nice little boost of energy and some Vitamin C, always good when healing.

Scanning myself is easy, as little Maddie demonstrates, all I do is hold the probes.
(Unable to take a picture of myself doing so, I am not an octopus after all).

Staying well hydrated and nourished with some lovely food, is really important. Caring for yourself, especially if you have a family to look after, work commitments etc, is not selfish, it is essential.

The rest of my day will involve a little gentle exercise and some quiet time reading, creating some art, baking and watching Strictly.

Whatever brings you joy, peace and healing, add that to your day at some point. Today I am lucky enough to be able to take a whole day to myself, but even if you only have 30 minutes, try to find some time each day to take a moment to reset.

Wishing everyone a great weekend.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay happy.
