Today Geelong enters its lockdown #8. I thought now is as good a time as any to share that I'm relocating for a seachange.
This Saturday, we'll be embarking on an adventure to move to Northern NSW.
As my clinic has moved almost entirely online, this has been a relatively smooth transition (besides the lockdowns, homeschooling and separation from friends and family that is!).
I'll be taking a short break from clinical practice to help my family settle in and recover from what has been a pretty big last few months.
This time is also providing space for some exciting things on the horizon, so stay tuned.

For the last month-ish I’ve been working out daily, sometimes twice although Friday rocked my routine.
Time to get back to it. Same workouts, just different!

Feeling thankful for the support I’ve received over the last couple of days. Yesterday, I took time out, rescheduling my patients to get some headspace (very grateful for their understanding).
Last night we wandered down to the beach for a walk and hit of beach tennis. Looking out into the horizon I find is one of the best ways to calm the mind and bring back a little balance.
A few giggles and the cold water helped a little too even when facing another lockdown!

Vulnerability post | I’ve been feeling a little off the last few weeks. I can’t put my finger on it, but a little overwhelmed and unbalanced.
Subtle things have been emerging like a loss of interest in cooking and eating (not ideal when you’re a nutritionist!!), energy on the lower end and more sensitive to annoyances.
Why am I sharing this? It’s really easy in this industry to only post the beautiful moments. The yummy looking smoothie bowl, the stylish and clean kitchen, a relaxing yoga pose…But the reality is, every day is not an Insta-worthy shot. There are ups and downs. And just because I’m a healthcare practitioner, doesn’t mean I don’t experience the lows.
So, I want to share what I’m doing to get out of this fog and find my mojo. Starting with taking advantage of this beautiful weather and getting a solid dose of vitamin D. Today, I nipped around the corner to my local park to have my lunch break there rather than at the dining table. Sometimes it’s these little proactive steps you take that can make the world of difference!

One of the intentions I set for 2021 was to read 1 book a month with an emphasis on fiction.
I've hit the ground running finishing this book by Kate Grenville (highly recommended) thanks to a few restful days over Christmas.
What's everyone got on their reading list? I'd love some inspiration for the year ahead.

One of the common conversations I am with people lately is that they're finding they're snacking more, making poor food choices or have noticed their waistline expanding while enduring the COVID restrictions.
For many, their movement has also reduced and they're stress levels increased. This doesn't make it an easy process to keep weight in check.
If this is you, one of the easiest changes you can make right now is to regulate your portion sizes. I find swapping your main plate to a small plate is a simple change.
This is last nights' dinner and it's a decent portion but this is using my son's little plates. If I served this on a main dinner plate I probably would have eaten another half serve.
Give it a try. More often than not, we're eating way more than we need.

Kid is back at school. Husband back at work. Time to have a cup of Love Tea in the garden with my four-legged friend.
Do you hear that??
Ahhh total serenity!

I’m Sarah – a registered nutritionist based in Geelong, Victoria. My passion rests in helping you achieve optimal health and wellbeing. This, I believe, relies on us living with intention. Nourishing our bodies with whole foods, consciously moving and practising self-care daily.
Through one-on-one nutrition consultations, I will work with you to help restore your mental and physical state with the power of food and healthy lifestyle changes. I take a holistic approach; analysing the body as a whole and respecting that no two individuals are the same. I aim to help you reconnect with your body, mind and environment, acknowledging that these need to be aligned to obtain true wellness.
I wholeheartedly believe food is medicine. It can nourish and heal. It can bring enjoyment and social connection. It can inspire and draw us closer to nature.
But I also acknowledge life is complicated.
The modern western diet, sedentary and demanding lifestyles and environmental toxins put our bodies under stress. For many this results in chronic health conditions that affect their quality of life and wellbeing.
Today, the simple act of feeding ourselves and our families a nutritious diet has become complicated. There is so much conflicting information available that even those with the best intentions can feel overwhelmed.
Through personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies, I aim to help take away the confusion, guiding you towards a whole food diet that supports your individual needs. Education is as much as key as implementation. I will work with you to look beyond the symptoms and investigate the root cause of your health issues, creating a treatment plant the is client-centred and personal to you.
My goal is to help you reconnect and restore your health so you can feel revitalised, nourished and empowered to continue your journey towards optimal wellness.
