Happy Lunar New Year from all of us at EmployAbility! 🧧

Today marks the beginning of the Year of the Horse! A year symbolising energy, optimism, and forward momentum. It’s a wonderful reminder of the strength we find when we move together, support each other, and celebrate the richness of our diverse communities.

Lunar New Year is a special moment for many people across Australia, and a great opportunity to bring your colleagues, friends, or family together. If you’re at work today, why not organise a shared lunch or encourage teammates to share their traditions and stories? These small acts help build workplaces and communities where everyone feels welcome, respected, and included.

As always, let’s make sure our celebrations are accessible and inclusive for everyone, because true inclusion means creating spaces where every person can participate fully and comfortably.

From the EmployAbility community to yours, we wish you a year filled with connection, confidence, and new opportunities.

A recent interview on ABC Radio with Diversity Council Australia (DCA) Head of Research, Dr Rose D'Almada-Remedios, has highlighted that nearly half of workers with disability have experienced discrimination at work in the past year.

This is a powerful reminder that while more people with disability are gaining employment, the work isn’t finished. Inclusion must be built into the everyday actions of every workplace.

We’ve written a blog breaking down the key findings, why they matter, and how organisations can take meaningful steps to create safer, more inclusive workplaces for all.
