“Hope is growing — because treatment now fits the patient.”
Every lung cancer case isn’t the same — and neither should be the treatment.

In our latest awareness session, Dr. Jay Dadhania, Consultant Medical Oncologist, HOC Vedanta, breaks down how molecular testing is changing the game in lung cancer care, helping doctors move beyond blanket chemotherapy and choose therapies tailored to a patient’s specific genetic profile.

This shift isn’t abstract science — it’s real impact. Better responses. Fewer side effects. More time with family. And a fighting chance, even in advanced stages.

Organised by the IHW Council, in association with AstraZeneca India and RAPID Global Cancer Alliance, this session reinforces a simple truth: precision oncology is no longer a privilege — it’s the care every patient deserves. And awareness is the first step in making it accessible across India.

Some battles never need to begin. Some futures can still be protected.
And in 2026, the most powerful force for that change is your story.

The IHW Council, in partnership with RAPID Global Cancer Alliance, is proud to announce the 7th Edition of the Cancer Summit & Awards — a national platform where prevention takes centre stage, and personal experiences become catalysts for better, people-centred cancer care.

Aligned with World Cancer Day’s 2026 theme — United by Unique: Your story will change minds — this year’s summit recognises that evidence saves lives, but stories move systems. When survivors, caregivers, clinicians, and communities speak, policy listens. Prevention becomes not just a goal but a collective demand.

This year, we focus on cancer prevention as the first and strongest line of defence — from awareness and early detection to equity and affordability. Because winning against cancer isn’t only about better treatments. It’s about stopping avoidable cases before they begin, and ensuring every voice shapes a safer future.

From Fear to Possibility - Lung Cancer Care

Targeted therapies and immunotherapies are proving one thing: late-stage lung cancer doesn’t have to mean limited options.

Science is rewriting what’s possible — and patients deserve to know it.

In our expert session with Dr. Mubarakunnisa Tonse MD, DM (Medical Oncology), organised in association with AstraZeneca and RAPID Global Cancer Alliance, we cut through the confusion and talked about what really matters: personalised care that gives patients not just more time, but better time.

If you want to understand where lung cancer treatment is heading — and why precision matters — this is a conversation worth watching.

Low-Dose CT (LDCT) Scanning: Making Early Detection Accessible in India

As we concluded this crucial discussion, three key insights stood out — highlighting why early detection must become the backbone of lung cancer control in India:

🔹 Dr. Satya Sadhan Sarangi emphasised that LDCT screening can dramatically improve survival when lung cancer is detected early — but this impact depends on awareness, correct risk identification, and coordinated follow-up across specialities.

🔹 Dr. Amit Badola underscored the reality that access remains unequal. Geographic barriers, workforce limitations, and lack of standardised pathways continue to restrict LDCT screening beyond metro hubs, especially for high-risk communities.

🔹 Dr. Amit Sehrawat highlighted the urgent need for indigenous evidence and contextual risk models before nationwide rollout — ensuring LDCT integration is responsible, data-driven, and equitable for India’s diverse population.

Together, these takeaways reinforce a central message: early detection saves lives — but only when awareness becomes access, and screening reaches the people who need it most.

This session was organised by the IHW Council, in association with AstraZeneca and the RAPID Global Cancer Alliance, as part of our mission to bridge the gap between awareness and timely action.

Some conversations don’t end when the event does — they leave you thinking, questioning, and re-imagining what better lung cancer care can look like.

A heartfelt thank you to our distinguished panel:

🫁 Dr. Darshana Rane, Consultant Medical Oncologist HCG Cancer Hospital, Mumbai
🫁 Dr. Karthik V, Associate professor Thoracic Surgery Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai
🫁 Dr. Vividha Dubey, Consultant, Radiation Oncologist Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai

for bringing clarity, candour, and clinical depth to the discussion on transforming lung cancer diagnosis and management through precision medicine.

Your insights on early testing, molecular profiling, surgical advances, and patient-centric treatment pathways helped shift the conversation from “what exists” to “what’s possible” — and why timely, personalised care isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential.

This session, held under the Lung Cancer Awareness Month initiative by the IHW Council, with support from AstraZeneca India and RAPID Global Cancer Alliance, pushes us one step closer to a future where late detection is the exception, not the norm.

To everyone who joined us, engaged, asked, and listened — thank you for being part of the change.
The fight against lung cancer demands awareness, access, and action. Together, we move forward.

Transforming Lung Cancer Diagnosis & Management: Innovations in Precision Medicine

As we wrapped up this important conversation, three clear insights emerged from our experts — each underscoring how precision approaches are reshaping lung cancer care in India:

🔹 Dr. Darshana Rane stressed that precision oncology isn’t a luxury anymore — it’s the new standard for improving survival and quality of life by moving beyond one-size-fits-all chemotherapy and tailoring treatment to the patient’s molecular profile.

🔹 Dr. Karthik V highlighted that early-stage detection through LDCT makes curative interventions possible. When lung cancer is found early, surgery becomes viable and long-term outcomes are dramatically better.

🔹 Dr. Vividha Dubey underlined how modern radiation technologies are delivering real-world improvements — higher cure rates, fewer toxicities, and more targeted tumor control that supports both survival and quality of life.

Together, these takeaways point to one truth: precision medicine isn’t the future — it’s the present, and scaling access to it will define the next leap in lung cancer outcomes.

Stay tuned as we along with and bring to you a series of such infomative sessions.

Some conversations open a window.
This one opens an entire landscape.

In the latest episode of the IHW Podcast, we are joined by Raji Mehdwan, MD & CEO of Roche India, and what unfolds is more than an interview. It’s a grounded, deeply human look at where healthcare is headed and why science, policy and empathy can’t function in silos.

Raji speaks about the breakthroughs shaping cancer, neuro and rare-disease care, the quiet revolutions happening inside labs, and how AI is speeding up answers patients have waited decades for. It’s a conversation that stays with you long after it ends — because it reminds us that the future of healthcare isn’t just about technology. It’s about people, possibility and the courage to reimagine what’s fair.
