Hey my beautiful followers,
So I’ve decided to do a little name change, as I feel that this new title encompasses my business better. I am a doula, I am a mumma, I am a Registered Nurse and I have a few more titles in the pipeline (masseuse and breastfeeding coach). So please allow me to reintroduce myself as The Perth Postpartum Professional.

I so look forward to meeting pregnant mummas so I can support you in a beautiful, calm and supported Postpartum, deserving of your Devine selves 💫✨💛

Babywearing

I’m a huge advocate for babywearing. I have worn both my girls, my nephew and even friends babies. Babies love being snug and cozy on you... it releases oxytocin in both you and bub, it regulates baby’s temperature, their heart and respiratory rates, and best of all it gives you both your hands back! Perfect for the dinner, bath, bed rush!

I’ve tried a bunch of them; wraps, structured carries, cheapies from Baby Bunting 🙊 and ring slings! My fav, fav, fav is the chekoh ring sling! As my babies get heavier, the ergo 360 structures carrier is my go to! I still wear my 18 month old when she’s a bit out of sorts and it instantly settles her.
Do any mummas plan on wearing there babies? As a Postpartum professional I can assist you to safely and comfortably wear your baby, so you can enjoy the benefits and get the most out of babywearing 💫✨💛

So what is a doula anyway?
A doula is a non medical support person who nurtures and guides people through massive transitional stages of life; Birth, Postpartum and Death. The term “doula” is relatively new, only having been coined in the 70’s. However doulas or whatever name they went by before have been around for centuries in pretty much every culture...... Unfortunately as the birthing, transitioning into motherhood and even the death process has become so very medicalized in our Western society the importance of spiritual, emotional and mental health has been sadly lost amongst all the noise, and as a result the art of tenderly hold space for transitioning, lost as well.
Luckily, the tide is changing!! People are prioritizing slowing down, looking inward. It’s not so ok to be expected to bounce back and carry on at your pre pregnancy level. Honoring yourself and giving time and space to transition calmly and confidently is getting trendy .
My dream is that having a doula won’t be a such unheard of thing. I would love to see doula’s mainstream and offered to everyone going through a transition. Particularly postpartum women. Be apart of the change and start the conversation. As a society we need to have new mumma’s backs, it’s not ok that the number one cause of maternal death in Australia is su***de. I believe Doula’s and a supportive society can change that.💪🏼✨

Learning to Breastfeed or Bottle feed and falling in love with your new baby should be your main focus during the 4th trimester. “Bouncing back“, fitting into your pre baby life and Pre baby skinny’s are not the priority (we have really got it all messed up in our westernized culture) The 4th trimester is a precious and so very fleeting time, it should be honored and prioritized by EVERYONE, so that support and space is offered to the mother (And family, for that matter) to transition gracefully into motherhood (or new family-hood 😝). Let’s change the way we look at the 4th trimester! ✨💛

Here are a few examples of how I provide support by offering light domestic duties as a part of my service.

Think.... going for a nice warm, relaxing shower (not turning the tap off 475 time because you think the baby might be crying) and coming out to a freshly made bed and lunch cooking on the stove. Having a refreshing nap and waking up to a load of laundry folded and ready to be put away. Going for a little wander in the backyard or down the street and coming home to vacuumed floors and a welcoming hot cuppa...... If just reading this made you feel relaxed and joyful, feel free to DM me with any enquires and for more information on how I can support you during your postpartum period 💫🌞💛
