Women's Brain health πŸ§ πŸ‘ Pt.2

As mentioned in part 1 women in their lifetime experience major hormonal shifts. This is why *Hypernourishment* with clean foods is important throught life in order to avoid vata type cognitive impairments.
🌱
If our bodies can't absorb nutrients as a result of dysfunctional cellular lipid membranes, then they also can't expel toxins.
🌱
What foods & habits should be incorporated to our lifestyle?

⭐ Seeds (Flax, chia, pumpkin, sunflower) These are high in Alpha linoleic acid which will be converted to EPA & DHA that form part of healthy lipid membranes

⭐Berries ( Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Cranberries, Gojiberries) The flavenoids and polyphenols present serve as potent antioxidants to combat cellular stress & guard cells from pathogens

⭐ Oils ( Sesame, Coconut, Extra virgin olive oil & Ghee)

⭐ Fresh Organic Veges (Kale, Spinach, Purple Cabbage, sprouted seeds or legumes, squashes, potatoes) The earth element in these foods mean they contain high amount of prana (life force)

⭐ Deep Belly Breathing known as Pranayama & meditiation for 20mins a day to help still the mind

Women's Brain Health πŸ§ πŸ‘ Pt 1
🌱
Women are twice as likely as men to suffer from Alzheimer's disease or cognitive impairments.

What are the risk factors?

Our hormones greatly influence our brain health and well-being. This is most notable during ovulation and menstruation. It's vital to ensure that during these times when significant energy is diverted to these functions, that the body remains well nourished to keep immunity (ojas) strong and to prevent opportunistic infections such as UTIs, colds etc. Research in recent years has shown chronic low grade infections can have consequential effects on the brain through inflammatory proteins circulating throughout the body and passing through the blood brain barrier.
🌱
Women experience tremendous hormonal shifts during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, so it's important to be conscious of environmental offenders (chemical pollutants, infections) as well as our diet & lifestyle choices (regular exercise, intellectual stimulation, sleep etc), to ensure our bodies defences are not weakened. Regular ayurvedic oleation therapies, like self-massages, or therapist performed massages can detox and boost our immune cells.
🌱
Increasing evidence shows that a womans lifetime exposure to the right forms of estrogen are neuroprotective for cognitive health and also support a longer and healthier reproductive lifespan. Ultimately, we have the power to support our brain and hormonal health through the choices we make now 🌟

Benefits of growing your own 🌱

Whether you live in a flat with a small balcony, or have a little garden patio, there's always an opportunity to grow in pots or troughs. Plus it's a rewarding experience 🌞
🌱
Most produce we get from a supermarket is depleted of trace minerals, vitamins, amino acids, & phytonutrients that our body requires to function optimally. That even goes for produce that are organic.Continous year round farming on the same soils mean they don't get a chance to replenish before new seeds are sown for the next season. 🌱
When you grow your own fruit & veg (or herbs & flowers), you're able to ensure that soils get surplus fertiliser to grow with strong immunity and nutrient profile. Fruit & veg face their own environmental stressors from pathogens to temperature fluctuations. So to protect themselves they produce phytonutrients and one in particular a phytoalexin called *salvestrols*.
🌱
Fruit & veg ripened on a vine and then cut when required have an increased amount of salvestrols (unlike supermarket produce which are cut unripe & ripened in transit to the store). Studies have shown that this phytonutrient has potent anti-tumour and anti-inflammatory properties in the human body working on the cyctochrome CYP1B1 enzyme in phase 1 in liver detoxification.
🌱
Just like resveratrols present in berries, salvestrols are present in pretty much all fruit, veg & herbs in varying proportions. The more you intake the better you support your body in fighting against diseases. I know i'd rather get my green fingers out than buy an expensive supplement form of this compound! πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ˜πŸ’š

Natural vs Man-made magnetism πŸ”
🌱
What's the difference? Ayurveda has always been a biophysical medical healing system. It acknowledges that biochemistry works in tandem with energy frequencies to generate a healthy state of being. The 7 chakras from the crown to the root of a human being are energy hubs consisting of nerve plexuses to different organ functions.
🌱
These chakras are regulated in line with the natural frequencies of earth, just like birds and bee's have magnetite which forms their internal compass for flight direction. 7.87Hz is the human resonance in line with nature= heartbeat of the planet.
🌱
Over the last few decades with the introduction of technology & medical diagnostic related electromagnetism and radiofrequency, there has been a shift. The introduction of 5G microwaves, which will now be even smaller mm waves than previously used in 4G, pose unevaluated safety concerns on human health. Certain treatments like PEMF therapy that align with natures resonance have been shown to be beneficial for those with chronic illnesses. However the mm waves to be used in 5G are between 29Ghz-90Ghz. Currently 4G uses under 6Ghz
🌱
Our bodies are comprised of ions on a cellular level to the fine balance of ions in our bloodstream to keep it optimally functioning with the natural environement as its cues. The body has no way of filtering man-made waves from the body and so will manifest inside (like a microwave oven inside the body). Previous declassified studies from 70's have looked into electromagnetism effects unfavourably.

Butterfly pea flower tea πŸ¦‹πŸŒΈ

This blue age old tea has been used in ayurveda for various inflammarory conditions in the body aswell as for anti-aging. The high content of antioxidants & anthocyanins (characteristic blue) are useful in boosting the immune system through reduction of inflammation & oxidative stress.
πŸ’™
It can be used as a nootropic analgesic tea and has soothing effects on the central nervous system pacifying headaches & anxiety.
πŸ’™
It has a somewhat neutral "earthy" taste and can be combined with other herbs like mint, camomile, lemon balm if you're looking for something with a more distinct flavour that also soothes an over-reactive nervous system. Also, adding something acidic like lemon/lime changes the pH turning it purple 😍.

Sprouted Beans/Pulses 🌱
During these times when you have more time at home, why not give sprouted beans/pulses a try. Sprouting beans/pulses allows a wider array of vitamins to become readily bioavailable during its germination.
🌱
Sprouted beans also reduce the amount of phytate (phytic acid) present, allowing increased GI absorption and utilisation of vitamins within the body. Due to it's raw nature, sprouted beans are said to have high amounts of prana (vital life force). Afterall, this is a dry bean that's been given life πŸ™ƒ.
🌱
These ones pictured, took 4 days of germination from day 1 of soaking dry mung beans to day 4 ending on the window ledge to develop their chlorophyll levels. They work great added to a smoothie/salad/soup broths/baked goods (so you don't taste them too much but still get the benefits. Win-win 😝).
🌱
Give them a go and stay well during these challenging times.

Immunity & CCF Tea β˜•πŸ’›.
In these challenging times😷, it's really important we start our day right with nourishing foods and teas that can boost our overall well-being & immunity.
🌱
CCF Tea is a combination of coriander, cumin and fennel seeds steeped/boiled in hot water in equal proportions. Sipping on this ayurvedic tea throughout the day strengthens our immunity via our agni (metabolic fire).
🌱
If we are able to absorb and assimilate the nutrients of what we are eating more efficiently, this essence can better support our lymphocytes to fight infection and our overall immunity.
🌱
Immunity also known as ojas in ayurveda is the final product of nourished bodily cells. So it's critical we are getting lots of cruciferous veggies/greensπŸ₯¦, mushroomsπŸ„,citrus fruits πŸ‹πŸŠ, berries πŸ‡, spices like cayenne & cinnamon.
🌱
To make 1 cup steep:
πŸ’› 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
πŸ’› 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
πŸ’› 1/2 tsp fennel seeds

Alternatively you can boil a larger batch of CCF tea (stronger than steeping) and then have a cup every couple of hours. You can add some extras like a wedge of lime or a ginger slice for a further immunity kick πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ.

Full Moon effects πŸŒ•
πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰

The first supermoon of 2020 will be here tonight! A supermoon means it's in it's closest proximity in its orbit to the earth (within 90%) so it can be seen bigger and brighter πŸ™†β€β™€οΈ (although the weather in the UK today might not allow this).
πŸŒ•
The moon ayurvedically speaking exerts gravitational cosmic rays of kapha which can make us feel a little sluggish or irritable and to seek creature comforts. One way to counter these effects is to invoke your mind with something calming or creative like a craft project, baking, meditation or yoga.
πŸŒ•
The moon during it's normal lunar phases has a powerful cooling and soothing effect on our bodies after a stessful day. So during the winter months when the sun sets earlier, drinking water that has been exposed overnight to the moons rays infuses us with these cosmic rays. Think of it as ' moon tea' 🍡.
